My thought is that they went into the studio and put down Party Time.  They played it for a couple of close friends, family, whatever and they basically said phans aren\'t going to go for this, it\'s not really a Phishy album and then went back into the studio and put down Joy...  I personally like Party Time (minus the song party time) as a whole better than Joy as a whole, but that\'s mainly because of TTE...

there is a whole thread on PT dissecting the progression of the album.... apparently there was thoughts to have a double album that included all songs on both Joy and Party Time... then there was a one disk, 75 min track list that included some songs from both discs that floated around as an option, then they settled on the 50 something min final version for the Joy CD that we know now...

Link please...

Yessir... looks like ur kinda thread, Yoda- a very clean breakdown of the supposed facts

HOW JOY & PARTY TIME FIT TOGETHER

come to think of it yoda, when i read this thread i thought that you could perhaps have been the original poster, it sounds like you

They fit together great being the two Phish albums I probably won\'t ever listen to again.

So I am not sure if anyone read the thread on PT that peaches posted. I decided to listen to one of the 75 min versions and I find that it does make for a much better album. Although I could do with out the party time into let me lie. For the most part I think that it makes for a much more exciting listen front to back. Its more eclectic more creative and involves the whole group a lot more (as far as song writing goes). I can\'t imagine what made them not go with a delicious 75 minute joyous party time. Would have been better IMO. Regardless I think it\'s fun to make your own decision and create the album as you see fit. Hooray for technology

THIRD VERSION (75-minute version, first evid of audio circ)

1. BDTNL
2. KDF
3. Ocelot
4. Splinters of Hail
5. Gone
6. Party Time
7. Let Me Lie
8. Stealing Time
9. Only a Dream
10. If I Told You
11. Sugar Shack
12. Joy
13. Light
14. I\'ve Been Around
15. TTE
16. 20 years

I agree completely I mentioned in this thread that party time\'s songs seem more artistic and inspired and i think this song is a perfect example. You gotta love phish attempting to fit themselves into the current music scene which is dominated by electronic-ish dance beats with a song like this that is current yet at the same time unmistakably phish. Also the fact that this is a page song is the shit. Phish could totally trance this shit out live.

Agreed. I love the mood of the jam... that fades out too quickly on PT.

Party Time has already grown on me. Maybe it\'s the cold rainy day, but I like it.

The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

Blackroc - Selftitled
http://rs672.rapidshare.com/files/307655830/pedradocoutopreta2009.rar

Collaboration between blues-rock duo The Black Keys and hip-hop label executive Damon Dash, with appearances from hip-hop artists Jim Jones, Mos Def, RZA, Raekwon, Q-Tip, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, Billy Danze (from M.O.P.), Nicole Wray, Noe and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

What the world needs now is a solid rap-rock project. At least that’s what the Black Keys are thinking. Hence: Blakroc, a new hybrid endeavor spearheaded by the Ohio blues-rock duo and Damon Dash, as well as entrepreneurial MC Jim Jones, who alluded to the meeting of the minds on Twitter back in June. He was not kidding.

Blakroc’s self-titled debut LP is out on November 27 and features an impressive guest list: Mos Def, RZA, Raekwon, Q-Tip, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, M.O.P.’s Billy Danze, Jones, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Together, the dudes are establishing their own label, Blakroc, to release the album
