The Liberators - The Liberators (2011)
http://www.mediafire.com/?m9cnh2m02y8pn0i

Record Kicks come through with a big release here in the shape of The Liberators who bring some serious afro-funk heat on their debut album The Liberators. I’m not quite sure who did the production on this but they’ve got down a pretty heavyweight sound. Consequently there’s a lot of rumble in the Liberators’ jungle – less ‘Shaft In Africa’ than ‘Shaft-right-here-in the-room-with-you. And that’s pretty much where the sound is at – full retro, Shaft-era blaxploitation instros augmented occasionally by guest vocals from ‘Foxy’ Roxie Ray, ‘Big’ Jojo Kuo and Afro ‘The Daddy’ Moses. Not ones to let pass an opportunity to promote their homage to the seventies, the band have also commissioned an epic blaxploitation style video. Clearly intended to out-‘Sabotage’ the Beastie Boys it contains every seventies cliché you can imagine and some that you’d forgotten about including fake taches, big afros, loose women, cheesy dialogue, head shots caused by a Magnum revolver and a really quite alarmingly snug pair of swim shorts. So epic is the video, in fact, that I wouldn’t be expecting anything else out of the Record Kicks stable for the rest of the year since it looks like they blew their 2011 budget on it. Check it below player. If you’re at all down with Big Pimp Jones, the Budos Band or Antibalas, this is one for you – no jive. Honky. I still reckon the band jacked the hook on Rags To Riches off The Look Of Love by eighties new romantic casualties ABC though…Full press guff below..

Black Is Soul – Pama Singles Collection Vol 1
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4A5DZM5P

Fantastic funky soul! The Pama label was a London-based operation in the late 60s – and they cut and licensed some very groovy tracks that mixed funk, soul, and rocksteady, and which featured artists from America, Jamaica, and England! This first volume of the label\'s output features one of their best-known (and heavily-sampled) tunes, the breakbeat classic "The Champ" by The Mohawks! Other great cuts include "Broadway Ain\'t Funky No More" by Bobby Patterson & The Mustangs, "Jerking The Dog" by The Crowns, "Baby Hold On" by The Mustangs, "Oh Babe" by The Milwaukee Coasters, "Wet Dream" by Max Romeo, "Every Day Will Be Like A Holiday" by Roy Docker, "Honey Bee" by The Classics, and "Soul Man" by Rico. Very nice, and done with a faithful reproduction of the original cover, too!

01 - The Mohawks - Mony mony
02 - The Crowns - Since You\'ve been gone
03 - Beberly Simons - What a Guy
04 - Betty Lavette - Feel good all over
05 - The Crowns - Jerking the Dog
06 - Bobby Paterson & the Mustangs - Broadway ain\'t funky no more
07 - Roy Docker - I\'m an outcast
08 - The Crowns - Call me
09 - Norman T. Washington - Same thing all over
10 - Roy Docker - Every day will be like a holiday
11 - Max Romeo - She\'s but a little girl
12 - The Mohawks - Baby hold on
13 - The Classics - History of Africa
14 - Laurel Aitken - Skinhead train
15 - Norman T. Washington - You\'ve been cheating
16 - The Mohawks - Sound of Witchdoctor
17 - Max Romeo - Wet dream
18 - The Milwaukee Coasters - Oh babe
19 - Norman T. Washington - Tip toe
20 - Rico Rodriguez - Soul man
21 - Bobby Paterson & the Mustangs - The good ol\'days
22 - The Classics - Honey bee

Phish SBD\'s only please!!! thanks for your compliance

This review comes from Picadilly Records...

"Shawn Lee is back with his Ping Pong Orchestra in tow, and goes completely pop! On "Hits The Hits" he drops covers of Gwen Stefani, Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears, Blur, Badly Drawn Boy, Justin Timberlake, Outkast and many more in his own unique style. The album opens with a collaborative joint featuring piano-master Mick Talbot (Style Council etc) on a version of Outkasts "Hey Ya!" that sounds like vintage Ramsey Lewis. Putting his over-stuffed studio to the test Lee pulls out all the stops on an album that includes a surf guitar-driven cover of Missy Elliot\'s "Get Ur Freak On", a full-on psychedelic sitar flavoured take on Britney\'s "Toxic", and stripped-down super funky versions of the Kelis hit "Trick Me" and Timberlake\'s "Rock Your Body"

DEERHOOF - MILK MAN

this album just got reissued on strawberry 180gram vinyl yesterday, limited to 500 copys and there are still some left .   deerhoof included an MP3 download for no extra charge, per usual. so im sharing the MP3 and i recommend getting a physical LP before they are gone.

DOWNLOAD LINK /  PURCHASE LINK

Deerhoof’s Milk Man is being reissued on vinyl in celebration of the band’s upcoming All Tomorrow’s Parties performance of the album this July in London (alongside The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr.).

The starting point for Milk Man was a cartoon character created by Japanese artist Ken Kagami, a longtime friend of Deerhoof vocalist Satomi Matsuzaki.

In contrast to the earnest guitar rock that predominated on their previous album Apple O\', Milk Man featured a broad palette of orchestral colors, echoes of music theater and camp, polished and gaudy arrangements, Stravinskian harmonies, and a more stylized, anonymous playing style resulting partly from recording most of the instruments at separate times rather than playing together as a band, and partly from many of the arrangements being created in a computer.

Critical praise for Milk Man came notably from NME and Spin. The song "Milk Man" was chosen in 2009 as one of Pitchfork\'s top tracks of the decade.
