Hook, Line And Sinker: Songs Covered By Phish
As fans well know, Phish was a band which drew musical inspiration from a wide variety of genres and eras of music. Many of the cover songs Phish played from such inspirations became among the fans\' most beloved and anticipated songs when played live alongside Phish\'s original catalog.
Hook, Line and Sinker is a compilation I made of the most Phishy of Phish covers. Whenever possible, I used the original versions of the songs. In the case of many older and traditional songs, such as Hello My Baby and Amazing Grace, I included the most well known or traditional sounding versions that I could find, often from the era in which the song became well known.
While Phish played hundreds of cover songs during their 20 year career, I chose to narrow the list of covers to the most commonly played songs in order to maintain the "Phishy" feel of the mix. Therefore, as a rule I only included cover songs that Phish performed on 3 or more occasions in their career. There are a couple of songs which are exceptions to this rule, but which songs were featured in particularly legendary set sequences.
Using these guidelines, I was able to narrow the list of covers down to a more manageable number: 117 cover songs in all (the zip files may have 118 songs, with one song mistakenly copied twice). This amounts to just over 7 hours of music, spanning their entire career. I attempted to be comprehensive, but if I left any out, please let me know. The songs should be in mp3 format of at least 192 bps or mp3VO quality or higher, depending on where I was able to locate them.
I would like to give a shout out to ZZYZX, for his awesome Phish stats site that made this compilation possible.

I chose to entitle the compilation "Hook, Line and Sinker" in tribute to the late Kurt Vonnegut, who a few years ago painted cover art for an imaginary Phish album for Glide Magazine\'s article, "Greatest Album Covers That Never Were." I included Kurt Vonnegut\'s artwork as part of the id tags for these songs. The artwork can also be found here:

I chose to keep the songs in alphabetical order for ease of viewing. When listening, I usually just shuffle them for a different feel every time.
