This first show was a whirlwind for me. keyboards that I never played before at awkward heights, getting used to playing standing up, realizing that these guys do alot of spontaneous stuff on stage. Basically, I had no idea what i was doing. I got alot of learning to do. Got some new gear (Hammond XK organ, Yamaha Motif). I\'m gonna end up with 5 or 6 keyboards up there. Maybe some other kinds of toys also(punching bags, newspapers, radios, video games, etc). In the first press photo for the band I am kinda hanging back. This is because in the first (about 6) months I will be learning the tunes and basically try to keep up with these guys. After that I will start bringing more of my tunes and vocals and general craziness in the mix. Lots of new sounds/stories in the works. So (I)we may sound a little sloppy in the beginning but soon enough well have lots of ambience, intense jams, video stuff, new tunes, sit-ins, more unexpected stuff, and who knows what else. It was so great to see everybody there on the beach. I am really looking forward to connecting with everybody musically and otherwise. I am so lucky to have stumbled into this incredible band and community! Ok, I better get back to practicing the Bisco set.
P.S. we had a little jam in Brooklyn last night at Studio B for the after party of the Disco Biscuits and Umphrey\'s show. I got to jam with the drummer from the Disco Biscuits and the keyboardist from U-Melt. They were great! I also played with a group called BioDiesel(live electronica/ drum n bass stuff). They were quite amazing. so much music to check out! see you at Bisco!
