Not just a local GD band. Cubensis is KNOWN far and wide. Their keyboard player Tom just finished a tour w/ DSO, that my friend Dan is now picking up.
Craig(Jerry) is the best Jer as far as getting that feel Jerry had. I have been seeing Cubensis since 1991 and by far the best Cover band I have seen. I would be hard pressed to pick between a DSO show and Cubensis. They are that much fun.

How many GD cover bands do you think exist? When I was living in New Bedford there was a band named "Pearly Baker" that covered GD and beyond on Tuesday nights. It was always a lot of fun and while I don\'t really consider them to be a "great" cover band, I got what I needed out of them. They also added their own twist on songs, sometimes they played it note for note.

My question is about the budget.

Would you consider Cubensis playing the Dead or playing their style of the dead?

Outside of the first torrent Wayne put up, that was the first time I have ever heard of them.

Did Pearly Baker play at The Bullpen in New Bedford? They are a hit because underaged kids frequent the place and also because there is very little to jam to in the N.B. scene.

It was the Bullpen. I knew a few of the players really well. They were good musicians who needed a gig on Tuesday nights. It also didn\'t hurt the attendance with $1 drafts. It was fun for what it was worth.

Most of the band had other gigs and bands, this was just something to do. One of the guitarists from the band basically had his own, well, TT type of following. He would play Monday, Tuesday with Baker, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday sometimes Sunday.

Was he the graying guy who plays at The Irish Immigrant?

No. That was Kenny. I was referring to Neal who was the guitarist for Snow Monkey Plum, considered by many in the area to be one of the top local musicians. His career was stumped after the band broke up. He continues to play daily in the area. Time to time he plays with a band he put together in the southcoast. He is a terrific guitarist and is very energetic.

Hundreds of GD cover bands exist.
As for Cubensis they play their style of Dead but it is very faithfully done lyric wise in meter and tempo.
The thing that always brought me back to them was their setlists. As I started seeing them as a fix while GD was back east, it was the way they paired up songs that GD just did not do. 2nd setters in 1st set. Songs not played by GD anymore etc...
