Man faces animal abuse charges
 
(Seymour-WTNH, Jan. 20, 2005 Updated 10:45 PM ) _ A disturbing story of animal abuse out of Seymour. A man faces charges for allegedly slitting the throats of several puppies there.

Twenty-year-old Brandon Chandler faces six counts of animal cruelty.

Behind a house on Skorkorat Street police found six puppies left outside in the woods in a basket. Five of the dogs were dead.

The lone surviving puppy had her throat slashed and a stab wound in her back. She has been named "Amazing Grace."

"This is brutal. It\'s the worst thing I ever saw in two years as the dog warden in the town. He brutally cut her throat. It was terrible," says Joe LaRovera.

Police say Chandler lived with the dogs\' owners.

"Police ... spoke to the accused and asked where the puppies were. He had stated that he \'sent them to heaven,\'" says Paul Beres from the Seymour Police Dept.

Police say the suspect used a buck knife to slit the dogs\' throat.

"He appears to show no remorse. He told officers that he had been drinking prior to the episode, that he had several beers."

The suspect was arraigned this morning and held on $50,000 bail. Police tell News Channel 8 that the man may have attacked the dogs because the owners refused to give him one of the puppies.

The owners are devastated by this and say they don\'t have the financial means to care for the dog. They signed over custody of the puppy to the Town of Seymour. The puppy is now receiving around-the-clock care at the animal hospital.

If convicted, Chandler faces up to 30-years in prison.

isnt that unfathomably horrible?  i signed the petition a couple days ago.  there is supposed to be some sort of protest at the courthouse i believe.  i cant even read the article, but he is in jail right?  it is so rare to really prosecute animal cruelty cases.  i hope this guy gets what he deserves inside the prison.

THIS is what people should go to prison for.  Someone should slit this guy\'s throat and see if he likes it.  If you ever watch Animal Precinct on Animal Planet you\'ll see there are some really sick fucked out people out there torturing animals.  What this guy did is like tormenting a baby and he should be murdered for it.

i dont see this as being any different than if he had killed 5 baby human beings.   he should be punished accordingly...  bastard...

I have to admit, I usually disagree with Devo on EVERYTHING, but I am totally in agreement with him on this.  Just give me 3 minutes and I\'ll put his balls where his eyes used to be.  Fucking pitiful.

not sure these do any good, but theres a petition going around to try to get the max penalty on this guy.  i think its 30yrs in prison.  for what it\'s worth, it only takes a couple seconds to sign.
