Kung Fu teams up with NYC visual artist for Brooklyn debutKung Fu — an explosive super group featuring members of RAQ, Deep Banana Blackout, The Breakfast and Jazz is Dead — makes its Brooklyn debut December 16 at Southpaw. This jazz/funk/fusion powerhouse has been the talk of the scene since forming just a year ago, earning major sets at Gathering of the Vibes, Camp Barefoot, The Big Up and Strange Creek. For keyboardist Todd Stoops, the Southpaw show comes just two weeks after a sold-out performance at the Brooklyn Bowl with his band RAQ.Kung Fu is also happy to announce the addition of multimedia artist Justin Wood, who will mix live visual projections during the performance. His Dancehall Media exhibitions have been integrated into some of New York’s biggest concert venues, including Camp Bisco (during LCD Soundsystem, Pretty Lights and The Disco Biscuits), Hammerstein Ballroom (with Dub Trio) and the Highline Ballroom (with Consider the Source). His latest exhibit — Inkjet Bombs — runs through December 30 at the New Art Center at 580 8th Avenue in Manhattan.DetailsSouthpaw: 125 Fifth Ave. Brooklyn, N.Y. 718-230-0236Doors: 8 p.m.Admission: $10Age: 21 and overPurchase tickets: http://spsounds.com
