Favorite Studio Jams
« on: September 06, 2008, 01:33:07 am »
I have gained a new appreciation for The Breakfast\'s studio material.  My band went into the studio for the first time a little under a year ago.  I didn\'t realize how hard it was to actually play live in the studio.  It is very hard to get into the mindset that you have when you are on stage and there is no crowd energy to feed off of.  I feel that is why most albums by jambands are not as good as their live shows. The "jam songs" are usually the songs that suffer most because the band cant just let loose like they can on stage. Plus I\'m sure the band has an idea of how long they want the song to be so it can fit on the album. Anyway, I was wondering what were some of your favorite studio jams. The songs that I consider jam songs that The Breakfast recorded in the studio are:

From Psychedelic Breakfast

Garcian Fishbowl
Puppetry
Frankly Po Zest (more of a guitar solo than a jam)

From Deuce

Tribal Funk Affliction
See The Light
Beef Barley
Buquebus
Mooboo\'s Voodoo

From Real Radio

Gravity

From Moxie Epoxy

Psygn
Future Peek
Over Exposure

I think my two favs are Buquebus and Over Exposure

I think the studio mooboos is better than any live mooboos i\'ve heard.

THOUGH i still have yet to see an actual mooboos in person... i\'m just talking from recordings

oe followed by gravity followed by gsot.

it got cut off but when they recorded gsot the ending was so grandious that it was ridiculous. they just kept building and ending, over and over again, then finally let it ring out one last huge time and everyone froze, afraid to make any noise that would ruin the track. finally it stopped and everyone just started laughing.

I agree that gravity is a great studio jam but it\'s hard for me to put it up there with the best because I\'ve heard some gravitys that have blown my mind live. (8/7/03 for example)

TGSOT is my favorite Breakfast tune!!!   Out of all the ones I\'ve heard, they don\'t really vary that much.  If I witnessed what you witnessed in the studio I might have a different opinion.
