if for nothing else than getting and keeping the band out in front of people and giving n00bs a chance to pull a show just for shits and giggles, i would say every show should be bt\'ed. putting the shows only on the archive does nothing for the band promotion-wise and only their existing fans even know to look for them there. its always seemed like using the archive as the primary dissemination source is keeping them out of the limelight and fairly counterproductive... both bt and archive would be ideal, but i\'d say bt\'s over archive if for no other reason than letting music fans know that they are still out there playing gigs somewhat regularly.

i\'m sure this has been discussed ad nauseum previously, but there\'s my un-requested two pennies.

of course, above all, thanks for all your efforts in taping and spreading the shows, dave!!

so if people like me and/or gfunk or whomever put the link to the archive dl on other boards and it being on archive has it permanently stored in Radio Joe as well, it does nothing to help the band?

and people are more than welcome to take the show from archive and put it on bt. i dedicate an enormous chunk of my upstream to put both 16 and 24-bit versions of shows up on the LMA. i simply cannot put every show on bt and LMA, because quite frankly, i like to use my internet connection for other things than uploading breakfast shows.

the LMA is my preferred method, because it gives my recordings a permanent home. i do my own backups here constantly, but having all of my recordings "backed up" offsite to the LMA is something bt just can\'t do.

if people don\'t know the breakfast is still around and playing regularly, then there are people who aren\'t doing their part. i\'m certainly doing mine.

to igz~ that\'s why i said it would be best to be on both the archive and torrented. however, to think that more people are going to see your (and my) links to the archive on a couple boards than would see it browsing a couple of the main torrent sites is silly. tons of different types of folks browse bt.etree, lossless legs, dimeadozen, etc who will never know to go look for the shows in the archive. these are people actively seeking out new music, who won\'t even know a new show is up on the archive unless they do a more complicated search on archive to find out. to me, the archive is a passive place to puts shows, as opposed to active placement on torrent sites. take the effort for new folks out of the equation, because they have no impetus to spend their time trying to dig for something they don\'t know whether is there or not. put it on a torrent site and its right there, easy and obvious for them to grab.

to dave~ that\'s why i figured you were using archive as the primary repository. i\'ve got shows seeding on a couple places, they aren\'t seeding on other places (and i don\'t know why - the same process works on some sites and not on others and i\'m too technically unsavvy to know why) and am more than happy to seed any and all shows. i\'m still sitting on five breakfast torrents and a 2006 timmy tour show. and they still get hits every so often. i just see the torrent sites as billboards and archive as a private room. maybe its just me.

and i certainly don\'t mean to imply you don\'t do your share. lord knows you go above and beyond.

i will try to torrent every show you puit up on the archive from here on out....

personally, i use archive and dont use bt...i know a lot of my friends use archive to find music...maybe its just easier to happen to cross paths with a breakfast show on bt, i dont really know much about it.

I like The Archive for the simple fact that you can stream the shows and you don\'t have to download shit. It is so simple, you just press play. And I love the turnaround that the heady Breakfast tapers spoil us fans with. Thanks again Dave, Fitz, Vallo, and everone else spreading this music.
