Poison Gets in Fight / Breaks Up on Stage

Bad video, but you can see it here...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_CKoHd4nrw

Here is a fan\'s recollection of the event:

dont know what started it, but right before the encore bret and bobby appeared to be in a heated discussion and next thing ya know bobby slings his bass at bret. rikki and the roadies had to come in and seperate them. bret then went on to apologize and say how we may have just witnessed the last poison concert ever. bobby later came out and finished the song...guess to give the fans what they paid for. wish i knew what was said.

Here is the way I saw it from 5th row center seats.

The next to last song has always been "Nothing But a Good Time." at least for the last 6 years that I have seen them. Then they seem to always close with "Talk Dirty To Me."

Well, NBAGT was played, the confetti dropped as it has every year, the band comes out and waves and it goes dark.

A couple of miniutes pass by and Bobby Dall (the bassist) comes running on stage pics up the mic and starts screaming "Do you want some more?" "I can\'t hear you!" I mean screaming the shit. I was weird and unusual...just the whole atmosphere of it seemed strange, the way he was acting.

Then the rest of the band comes walking out looking puzzled and Brett tried to get the microphone from Bobby. He shoved Brett and looked seriously pissed off, I mean he looked like he was ready to throw down.

Brett took the boxers stance (you know dukes up and bouncing) and I was just kinda trying to play it off with a smile but Bobby wasn\'t smiling at all. Then 4 or 5 roadies come on stage and pull them off the stage.

A couple of minutes later Brett comes out and apologizes to the fans. He said "that shit has been building up for 20 years." He then explained, "We are like brothers, and sometimes brothers want to knock the fuck out of each other."

He apologized for not finishing the show with Talk Dirty To Me and then said, "Atlanta, you may very well have seen the last concert by Poison in it\'s current formation." (pretty much verbatim)

Rikki and CC had "WTF looks" on their faces. Then Bobby comes out and says, fuck it let\'s play one more. Rikki walked to his drum kit, CC got handed his guitar and they played Talk Dirty.

During the song, Bobby was running around all over the stage, alot more than is normal for him. CC and Rikki kept exchanging looks with each other like they were disgusted and Brett was Brett, he just sang his ass off and didn\'t pay attention to Bobby.

At the end of the show, Bobby took his bass off, handed it to the roadie and walked off the other side of the stage while Brett, Rikki, and CC all said goodnight to the fans and thanked them for coming out.

It was awkward, and not staged at all in my opinion.

After the houselights were on, Brett apologized to some of the fans on the front row...without a mic, he just said, "guys, I\'m sorry that happened here." Seemed very genuine to me.

As we were leaving, we have to pass by the area to where the people line up for Meet/Greet passes...given out by radio stations and fan clubs. Well, one of the guards walked up and told them there would be no meet and greet tonight.

I took my 8 year old...he loved it. It was the third time he\'s since them, his first was when he was 4. I took him to see Crue in March and Wednesday we\'re going to see Rob Zombie, Godsmack, and Shinedown.

I\'ve been a lurker here for a long time but never post...I figure I\'m not in the 8th grade anymore so no need to get into a my band is better than your band thread.

However, it says alot about Poison that every year they can have a very successful tour. They may not be Metallica (whom I hate) or the Crue as far as straight hard rock, but their music is what it is and they are still one of the more popular 80\'s bands around.

That is a crazy story Marcial......

its the "subtle" differences in the telling of the two accounts that makes this post priceless......

you must be at the top of the heap status in the poison fanclub to be scorin 5th row center.......

Man that video was hard to watch with that girl screaming her lungs off... Talk about an abrasive voice.

That sure is a dramatic way to go out.

when I worked at the meadows we found out why posion has a successful tour each year. They have had now since at least 1999 a deal that if you go to a show, bring your ticket stub to the following night (or any other night) on the tour and you can get on the lawn for free. They do this because they can\'t even come close to selling out the seats alone, let alone a whole ampitheater. Hopefully these fans will buy enough beer and merch to justify the tour. At least half of the fans on the lawn at any given show are in this way. Add to that, at least a half of the \'paid\' fans were comped in through promo giveaways. Posion sure can\'t sell tickets, but they know how to fill a place.

I guess Poison was one of the best glam rock bands of the 80\'s.  I was thinking about going to that show in Atlanta but I don\'t like those ampitheater venues.  (I don\'t know if I would say Poison is better than Metallica, but I only like the first 4 Metallica cd\'s and after that they started to suck - also my first rock concert ever was the And Justice for All tour at Lakewood/ Hifi Buys Ampitheater in ATL) So Marcial - if you\'re willing to drive to Atlanta to see Poison you gotta come out here to see the Breakfast again - assuming they come down here again.  I\'m hoping they will squeeze in one or two southeast shows on their way back to Conn.  They play 10/22 in Tempe, and 10/27 for the Freakout.  They have to stop somewhere, and Alabama or Georgia would be on the way.
