oof...that sucks. where was the gear stolen from? after a show or at a gig? thats never fun especially when you invest so much time and effort into you gear. I know I would literally kill someone if my cds were stolen, because my collection means something to me, like the instruments mean much more to these guys.

karma will be back around...

Seems like quite a few bands have had their gear stolen.  There must be people who scope out the vans outside of known music venues.

I\'m sure that the retail value on most instruments in the black market or on ebay is lucrative. In cities where there is lots of things happening and people on the streets all the time, they most likely scout it out and know its a band and just wait. Patience can be a hell-of-a thing sometimes. It sucks because once it is stolen, its pretty much gone for good, I doubt they ever find the instruments. I guess you can insure the instruments like anything else but I doubt the claim payout would be worth it.

Hopefully, better times are around the corner for The Niche. Didn\'t the Breakfast headline a festival with them or play The Niche\'s festival last year?

The Niche’s

“GET OUR F’n GEAR BACK”
FUNDRAISER SHOW

As you may or may not know, The Niche’s van ( a.k.a. “The Creep”) was broken into and we were robbed of most of our gear. Though we were able to recover some of it back, there is still several thousands of dollars worth of equipment still out there, preventing us from being able to play out live or finish our album. With much money still being owed to our studio, we are unable to use any money to buy more gear with. Basically, we are screwed, and can’t do much about it because we can’t play out to make any money back.
So what is our plan?
We don’t have one. We did think, however, that since we are going to borrow enough gear to fulfill our obligations to Milestones anyway, we might as well try to create a fun event and raise some extra money that will not only assist in the survival of our band, but will also be given back to the scene which has given so much to us.
So, on July 22nd , we will be holding our “Get Our F’n Gear Back” fundraiser show at Milestones, in which a portion of all proceeds will be donated directly to Rochester Groove, the organization that has given so much of themselves to help progress our local music scene. We feel it is necessary that if we are going to ask you to give to us, we would like to give something back as well, and we couldn’t think of a better candidate than Rochester Groove.
Aside from 2 sets of music, there will also be raffles, auctions, quirky contests, and all donations will mostly likely not be refused. Also throughout our 2 sets we plan to have several guest appearances, many of which will be from local bands whom you all know and love. Finally, we will record the entire event and make it available for everyone to listen back to.
So, on July 22nd, we ask you all to look into your hearts and your wallets to help prevent our band from dying a miserable death, and feel good knowing that you are also giving something to the rest of your local music scene as well.
And please,
“ LOCK UP YOUR VEHICLES!!!”
