live from chicago DVD comes with an audio CD; goooood freakin stuff i must admit, nice catalogue from many albums.... i must admit, though that their studio stuff is very intricate and well thought-out.... i suppose what i like about studio ween is the precision with vocal and musical special effects.... i guess my point is that the live stuff makes me appreciate their effort in the studio much more..... i\'d recommend listening to the albums before the jump to live stuff, but, i\'m just a silly princess
if you have chocolate and cheese and dig it, i strongly recommend (in this order):
The Mollusk
White Pepper
Quebec
... these albums are probably the most down to earth of the collection. if you\'re looking for something more out there, then you can move onto:
God Ween Satan (one of my favorites, their first album i believe, lots of short, fast, punk-ish tunes)
Pure Guava (some of these tunes are a bit difficult to get through, but it has its gems i assure you!)
I\'d veer away from The Pod unless you are huffing mass amounts of shoe polish (as they did when recording, while they were both ill with mononucleosis.... yowza, weird stuff)
12 Golden Country Greats is really honestly a traditional country album.... some funny songs too (piss up a rope, fluffy)
Paintin\' The Town Brown is a live 2-disk with a 24 minute Poopship Destroyer... not so much of a fan of that... lol
I unfortunately haven\'t purchased Shinola, their most recent post-hiatus effort.... i hope to muster up the funds to buy it someday....
wow, i can talk about ween all day. if you want a mix CD or something, drop me a line, i\'d be more than happy to create one for you
