Since I live only 5 miles away, perhaps I\'ll join you for this event.

The Wall Street Journal mentioned that Jerry\'s last words were rumored to be "Netscape opened at WHAT?" in regards to the Netscape IPO.  Good to hear that a counter cultural icon was also an enthusiast and participant in the capital markets.

sitting here listening to garcia I have to reflect on the profound impact his life and music had on mine. It is really interesting to me that someone I never met could have such a resounding impact on who I am and what i have become.

The day he left this world was one of the sadest days for me ever. I remember it vividly. Still very difficult to deal with for me in certain ways. Always reminded of the days of Grateful Dead shows and the feeling I would get when we would get to the show.

After Jerry Died Kim and I didn\'t go to many shows for a LOOOONG time. We first started getting back in to the scene so to speak in 1999 when we first attended the Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport CT. then again in 2000, 2001. It was that year that going to see the Grapes of vaudevillian fantasy that my world was again changed for the better. A band unknown to me took the stage and I had that face melting experience many of you talk about here. Tim, Ron, Adrian, and Jordan pulled this sorry sap out of the musical doldrums and inspired me to get back out there.

It was because of that show in SoNo that Psychedelic Breakfast or The Breakfast has a place in my heart forever.

So to Ron, Jordan, Adrian and Tim I simply say Thank You it was 10 years ago that my world changed forever but it was only a few years before you guys changed it again!

It indeed has been a long strange trip (had to add the corny reference :) )

Some great shots in that file - pity the music wasn\'t jerry\'s though.

People always ask, "Where were you when they landed on the Moon/Kennedy died?" etc Well I\'m a bit young for either - only three in \'69, but for me, the two great (or not so great) questions are, first of all, where were you when Lennon got shot? Answer: home, ill in bed - my father came in to break the news; he let me have my Xmas present, a new cassette recorder, early so i could tape the radio special about Lennon.

The second question is of course when did you hear Jerry had died. I was on holiday in France when i saw the news on a tv in a shop i was passing. Couldn\'t believe it, especially as I had passed on the last Euro tour they did as the nearest show was 150 miles away on a work night - more fool me as when I pass on to the great gig in the sky,  it means I will never have seen the Grateful Dead.

Have learned my lesson though and have driven everywhere these last few years - this year alone has seen three jefferson starship shows, three by Love, six Country Joe McDonald and a 300+ mile round trip just to see Keller Williams open for Particle, and he only played for 45 minutes. Must have clocked up close on 2000 miles for those shows, but hell it\'s only money. ;)

I was on my way back from a delivery (za)....Just about back...driving under the train tracks on old gate lane in my 90 red celica when the news came across WPLR....

I was only 7 when lennon was shot, so i had probably just come in from sledding or building a snowman or something.

I was workin\' as a shoe shine boy @ Bronson Country club in shelton CT when Jerry popped.  most of the snobby members had no idea/didn\'t care about Jerry, so it was just me and the dj\'s of WPLR mourning together.
