HYDRA Particle kids watch out.
« on: April 10, 2005, 04:23:40 pm »
OMG Mickey Hart is a Drumming GOD. Saw HYDRA last nite on 300mics of some of the most ser blotter of my life. This was not your typical "lets roll and dance allnite" Particle show. Mickey brought the HEAT. I saw many kids that were not ready for the heaviness that GD related themes bring to a trance party. I heard some of the most amazing drumming from Mickey EVER. It was unreal. Seeing the guys in Particle in my state made me realize that the reason Particle is soooo popular for folk to play with is no one will EVER get shown up playing w/ these guys. They have perfected the supportive band method of playing. Mickey fit perfectly in this setting. Anyway if what I witnesed last nite is indicitive of the rest of the tour the DEA will have a friggin\' field day this spring and summer. HYDRA is not Particle. HYDRA IS MICKEY FUCKING MINDS UP w/ Particle providing back up. I cannot emphasize enough even if you do like Particle, if you like Drums and Mickey in particular you must go.

Oh btw haven\'t slept yet. lol

Not saying it isn\'t good without hearing it but couldn\'t the L have had a hand in your experience?  Sounds like you had fun but I don\'t see just adding Mickey changing Particle all that much?  I gotta hear this now.  Are these shows going to be on LMA?
Too fat for a tandem bike, and too drunk for a Mountain Bike...taste the fear.

Oh you are very right Walsh The L did "make" the show, but Mickey DID change the way Particle sounded. Basically all the wankery Charlie and Steve do was relegated to being back up to the drums. Particle\'s normal drummer is good @ keeping time and that\'s abt it. Very little creativity which Mickey is ALL ABOUT. When you look @ a HYDRA stage you see Drums and lots of them. It was truly amazing the difference that took place. All the jams that normally peter out had an added layer of rhythmic thickness that pushed them to where they needed to go. I normally would not listen to Particle on disc,  HYDRA on the other hand I think I would listen to on disc just for the insane rhythms Mickey lays down. I hope some of these eventually end up somewhere for download.

As for Wah\'s statement. I will be nice in saying Freddie you do not know what you speak of. The Rhythm Devils are yin/yang. Bill=laying down the rock for all to play over. Mickey colors that rock. They are totally different drummers. Always have been and always will be.

GD w/ Bill only = One of the tightest bands ever. I will give you that.
