Amsterjam - Jambands in Europe
« on: March 09, 2005, 04:24:48 pm »
Looking at the keller williams site led me to this page: http://amsterjam.net/  (Check out the Dutch Treats link)

Always lots of talk about UM, but looks like they\'re crossing the pond shortly, along with the biscuits, k-dub and particle. Could be interesting if it works out (is sold out already) and they do another next year; breakfast on the bill, perhaps??

UM would have to pick The Breakfast to go. This Amsterjam thing is an Umphrey\'s venture. They picked the bands and made their own mini fest basically.

exactly, and they dont want to get blown out of amsterdam by a band that throws down way harder than them. particle has energy, no lyrics or variety. the biscuits are great, but trancefusion is different altogether. keller is obviously way different.  but the breakfast, hahahahaha, basically their music is comparable at moments but with UM on the very short end of the stick. they cant handle the truth!  UM on left side,PB right--->  :asskicked

I avoided the comparision on purpose. I know many folk that are Umphrey\'s OR Breakfast. I am one of those that dig both bands with of course The Breakfast coming first but I feel that this division need not be. Both bands are technically amazing and in all actuality UM has better stage dynamics up to this point in time. With the release of RR and the writing of songs like Vera St. and Fresh Cut, I believe The Breakfast  will be able to better develop stage dynamics.  Both units throw down hard but when The Breakfast unleash the sonic power in their command there is NO BAND ON THE SAME LEVEL(clubs etc.) AS THEM THAT CAN EVEN COMPARE IN THE SLIGHTEST. Believe It!!!

"Anchor Drops" is a very well produced album, and whoever does the singing/songwriting thing has it down pretty well.  Hadn\'t heard it until a few days ago, and was def. impressed, but still will never understand the hype..
Not sure what is gonna transpire. Regardless, we ain\'t gonna forget the gravy.

That was my thought too, but you never know, the organisers in Amsterdam (or elesewhere in Europe) may decide to organise one themselves, then Breakfast would be in with a shout. It would only work in the UK in the early summer, when there are lots of americans around in London, which of course would clash with everyone\'s US summer tours. I know from experience with sci that this is the case - gig in June was packed, gig in March had to be moved to a smaller venue due to poor ticket sales.
