Both lizards and snakes are animals. True, they are cold-blooded, and not thus not mammals. But they are members of the kingdom Animalia, which contains living things that differ from plants in that they have cells without cellulose walls, they don\'t have the capacity for photosynthesis, they have the capacity for spontaneous movement as well as rapid motor responses to stimulation, they are organized to a greater degree of complexity, and they require complex food materials. They are animals. So are whale sharks.
