The new iPods (and massive iPhone price drop)
« on: September 05, 2007, 03:14:36 pm »
http://www.apple.com/

highlights:

all new interface.

new nano with video; 4gb & 8gb; new colors.

\'ipod classic\' in 80gb & 160gb.

\'ipod touch\' - iphone without the phone. wifi, youtube, etc. 8gb & 16gb :(

4gb iphone extinct; $200 price drop on 8gb to $399.

---

would love a \'touch\', but 16gb just ain\'t gonna cut it. i\'ll probably off my 60gb video soon and pick up a 160gb \'classic\'.

sorry chip to all the iphone early adopters.

Hopefully the older iPods will drop to a reasonable price now, so I can buy one.

can they just add FLAC support already I mean geesh.

if they had flac supported playback I might think about an ipod.

I really wish I hadn\'t sold my iriver h120. I really miss that device

an even better option with the ipod - buy it at best buy, and get their 2-year protection plan. your ipod breaks, you bring it back and get a new one. don\'t have to worry about waiting for it to be fixed.

what\'s great about this with something like the ipod is that the models don\'t stay current for 2 years, and once they sell out of the old ones, they\'re gone. so even if your ipod doesn\'t break in those 2 years, once those new ones come out, kick yours down a flight of stairs and go get a bigger and better one for free.

I lost an 80 gig one vibes last year. There was thunderstorm in the middle of the night and my friends audi tweaked and rolled down all windows and puddled it.

oh, and the one feature i want, still doesn\'t exist. i just want to be able to leave my ipod in my car, and transfer songs to it from my computer without bringing it in the house. not too much to ask for, imo.

This just in:

Downloadable and legal hack/patch for iphone to free up iphone for use on any network is now available!  Story and download here: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/09/12/free_iphone_unlocking_solution_released_for_download.html

No soldering required!  Good thing that kid who came up with the impossible soldering hack already cashed in and got that new car, cause all that work is now obsolete.

Yeah, but the only other carrier that uses GSM is T-Mobile. :yack2:

Why anyone would spend $699.00 on a f-ing phone is beyond me.

especially one that has less features then cheaper phones and only works with lame carriers.

I hate cell phones. The only reason I have one is because my job gives me 1 for free. I have a blackberry and I guess it is neat but no way in hell I would pay good money for anything like it. I never answer the damn thing and mostly just check e-mail.

I miss the old days where you had to find a pay phone. Plus it may you harder to track.

Anyone remember when they stop allowing inbound calls to pay phones ? That was a real pain in the arse.
