Pre-order for Jerry\'s new cd "The Very Best of Jerry Garcia"
« on: August 30, 2006, 11:58:47 am »
The Definitive compilation of essential tracks from Jerry\'s studio album catalog, plus a full 2nd disc of rare and unforgettable live performances, is now available for pre-order.

This special 2-CD colletion from J. Garcia Records and Rhino Entertainment salutes one of the most legendary figures in American music, beloved Grateful Dead lead guitarist, vocalist and eternal goodwill ambassador Jerry Garcia.

Outside the realm of the Dead, Jerry pursued a broad array of folk, bluegrass, blues, and roots rock side projects that fully enriched his storied career. His solo albums capture the heart & soul as well as the rich talents of this incomparable genius. Spanning 1972-1982, Disc 1 pulls key tracks from all five of Jerry\'s studio releases: Garcia, Compliments, Reflections, Cats Under The Stars, and Run For The Roses. Studio classics include "Deal," "Sugaree," "The Wheel," and "Knockin\' On Heaven\'s Door." Disc 2 boasts more than 76 minutes of unforgettable live performances from 1973-1990, and features an unreleased version of "Dear Prudence" by Reconstruction, a Garcia-led band that has never released any recorded material until now. Highlights include Jerry Garcia Band interpretations of Peter Tosh\'s "The Harder They Come", and Bob Dylan\'s "Positively 4th Street." The deluxe package features an in-depth essay from Blair Jackson, and all tracks have been remastered in HDCD to sound better than ever.

All pre-orders for The Very Best of Jerry Garcia will receive 2 additional discs of bonus material. The first, "Twisted Radio Waves", features in its entirety, a 1972 radio conversation with Jerry presented by Dr. Demento. The 2nd, "More of the Best", contains three additional never before released live tracks that were considered for this release, including a 6/3/84 performance of "Dire Wolf" by Jerry and John Kahn at the Kabuki Theater in San Francisco. Click here to view the track listing.

In addition, everyone who pre-orders The Very Best of Jerry Garcia will automatically be entered to win a very rare custom print of Jerry from the shot used for the album\'s cover art.
