Anyone think this scandal will really have an effect on the NBA\'s popularity?

New info coming to light each day pointing to a bigger mess then David Stern has let on to knowing about.

I think this is the road the NBA was heading down.

are you trying to imply that the NBA currently has some popularity?

don\'t get be wrong, i watched the nba finals this year but the ratings were lower than the ufc, which ran free on spiketv during one of the games. personally i think david stern is somehow involved with fixing games as well. just take a look at the suns v spurs playoff series this year.

yes.

i believe that out of the 9 people that still give a shit about the NBA, approximately 2-3 of them may drop off because of this.

i\'m with you on this one. this league is a joke and has been one the entire decade. along with the nba, the nfl (vick\'s indictment) and the mlb (bonds chasing aaron) have problems of their own. what vick did was on his own time and doesnt affect the nfl though a lot of players seem to be making the news in the past 2 years. the mlb will always have to deal with the steroid issue until a-rod breaks the hr record. i dont like the yankees but id like to see him get the single season record at some point on his way to breaking barry\'s short lived record so all the bs is replaced in the record books.

There is always Ken Griffey Jr. he is currently at 587 HRs

i dont see griffey hitting +40 hr for the next 5 years to break it. he hasnt even hit 40 since 2000. if he wasnt injured so much throughout his career he would be much further along and it would be a different story though.

A-Rod should have 900 HRs or there about by the time he is done playing baseball, granted all things stay course.

I was, and still am, a huge Griffey fan, and I will say that if he did not give 120% everytime he stepped onto the field he may have gotten hurt less. And if he didn\'t get hurt, nobody would give two shits about Bonds right now. Sure Bonds would break the record first, but by my gorilla math Griffey woulda be at around 700 or so (less than two seasons) with a huge advantage in the age category (five years younger). BUT, he gave 120% everytime on the field, and got hurt, and well, we may never know what mark he woulda set for Mr. Rodriguez
