Psychedelic Breakfast the album
« on: December 18, 2004, 07:45:14 pm »
I have been looking to get a copy of this album for a while but as I am sure you know it is out of print and only available used. The used copy listed at Amazon carries a price tag of $40. If the band was getting the $40 I would not mind paying but since it is going to a used record dealer I am reluctant.
I assume that Sonance or whoever the label was at that time owns some of the rights making the band reluctant to do a re-issue. What is the possibility of the band releasing the songs in mp3 format for free? I know the Butthole Surfers did something similar with the Double Live album. http://www.buttholesurfers.com/DoubleLiveMP3.html

My other option is to piece together an approximation of the album from songs in the archive. So I appeal to you ser fans that go way back. What live version(s) of each song on the album do you recommend from the archive?

1. The Vemont Song
2. Garcian Fishbowl
3. Attraction To Shade Ditty
4. Puppetry
5. Heather
6. No Glove, No Love
7. Episode1(Happy)
8. Frankly Po Zest
9. Uncle Freddy
10. Superfly Phaddy Fat

Nice idea - been trying to get the album for over a year too - always out of stock. Rather than mp3 it, why can\'t it be rereleased? However, any rerelease should always be as it was. I hate it when groups rerelease early albums with extra tracks, punishing the fans who were there in the beginning, ie those who bought the albums when the band needed support most, by making them buy the album again.

Best Vermont song I can remember is from Baja Bash - 7-31-04

Great Puppetry from the Wheelhouse Tavern on 9-18-04

One of my favorite Attractions occured at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA back in 2000.

There aren\'t too many Heather\'s, Garcian\'s or Uncle Freddy\'s in recent memory so I can\'t give a suggestion.

Plenty of absolutely nasty Superfly Phaddy Fat\'s as well but I can\'t recommend one in particular.

The first album is great.  Different sound on half the tracks than the Breakfast of today.  I actually listened to it last night for the first time in a long time and was going to start a thread to see if others still listen to it.

It would only be another 10 to 12 bucks, and why not support the band if you can?  I doubt any longtime fan would consider that punishment.  I bought the disc the first time I saw them in 2001, but I couldn\'t even tell you where it is right now.  I\'d easily buy another, and if it were to be beefed up a bit, that would make it even more worth it.

I don\'t think that "remaking" the album with live tracks gives a good idea as to what the album is about.  Vocals and solos have been rearranged, you miss a lot of the effects that were done in the studio, etc.  You\'re probably better off having someone burn you a copy and listening to the real thing.  You\'re really not missing much without the cover sleeve.

Rereading my original post, realised I should have said RECORD COMPANIES rereleasing albums, usually from a time when the bands had poor contracts royalties-wise so won\'t really benefit from a reissue anyway. Perhaps "punished" was the wrong word, "obliged" might have been better, but I\'m sure most of us know exactly what I  mean.

In addition, in the UK, CDs by artists who are not "Top Twenty" chart crap cost about £15 ie nearly $30.

I agree. I was hoping you guys might choose versions that are truer to the album tracks as opposed to the sickest ones ever. Though those are good to know too.
