i dont even want to look at the setlist and comments after this one.
The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

Sad, sad news. I am sorry to hear this. It is like losing a friend I never got a chance to really know. Wouldn\'t miss this show for anything. Can\'t wait. Since, Porter\'s is IMO, the BEST lot scene I have seen at a venue of its kind, I am sad to say this one last time, I\'ll see ya in the lots!
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

Hetty Lot ScEnE...put some ***** up you r butt!!!!

It is a sad day that this venue is closing.  One of the best beer selections in CT and a fun place to see shows.

this thread gets me thinking, what makes a great venue.  Why are some venue\'s adored and others ignored and at times scorned (ie Lions Den).  Why does everyone love porters?

Location:  It was kinda a hike to get to, but once you were there, it had that laid back beach town atmosphere.

The Stage: I always hated how the staged (what stage, I mean performance area) seemed too close to the upstairs bar/ stairs.  I prefer having easy access to my booze, which always meant that I was walking downstairs for beers, not fun when you love draining beers.  Then there\'s the fact that your dealing with a "performance area" instead of a stage, which makes it difficult for those under 6ft that aren\'t in the front row.  However, if you did get to the front, the lack of stage made for a band/fan connection like no other venue.

No AC.  Steve wasn\'t the only one walking outta this venue looking like a greased pig steppin\' off a treadmill.  But I think that added to the place, the heat, the sweat.  The place was dirty, boozy, it seemed to loosen people up.

The Lot - probably the reason everyone loved this venue.

I always like seeing you there sexy.

Good food, great beer(Budweiser) and a lot scene!!!  Course the Breakfast TORE it up on a regular basis...thatalso helps.

If the band went to Lion\'s Den and played 2 sets with only one opener band and came close to the performances(ie Turkey Tour, 6/10, 3/12, etc) Lion\'s Den would be a fav.  Instead there is expensive beer, dick security, 7 opening bands and one setters that never leave the ground(other than the infamous 2-1-2 show in June).

never been there, but always hearing about how friggin hot it is and crammed has to add to the show. heat is music\'s best friend IMO. speaking from both a personal playing and a personal fan standpoint crazy shit happens when everyone is gettin liquored up and sweaty.

Any rumors circulating about a possible show somewhere for Sat, Oct. 1st?  I\'m very close to booking a trip back to New England for Porter\'s Final Stand.

I\'d prefer to catch two shows over the weekend, though one last show at Porter\'s may be the only motivation I need to get back east.

zurf, there was a guy at porters last time that looked just like you.  i have some pics of him on my phone but they didn\'t come out that well as i was trying to have him not notice that i was taking pictures of him.  but anyways yea, you\'ll have to come back to if only just to challenge this guy to an epic duel.  i mean we can\'t have two of you running around...
