New Years Eve

I am annoyed as heck because NYE with the Breakfast is my top priority this year, especially since I may be heading west in the coming months.

Unless the show is considerably close and reasonably priced ($20 is too much) I generally don\'t go to openers.  We have already paid our dues by supporting them at openers over the years.  If they are going to open for New Years, it may as well be for a band that is worth opening for, not one that isn\'t going to do much for them.  All the Toad\'s shows were Max Creek openers till 2001.  I can\'t remember them opening up for M.C. in their own backyard since.  I understand getting a small role at Camp Creek or one of those other festivals, but not NYE.   I hope this is the last time they open at a major event like NYE.  They could at least share the night.  Is the night supposed to be totally dedicated to Max Creek with a little side of Breakfast early in the night?  Maybe they get 1.5 hours but I won\'t assume anything.  Whoever is booking shows should reconsider and try to pull some strings with some of the heavyweight bands playing in NYC on 12/31.

Is it too late for them to withdraw from the offer?  We need a complete set or two with several hours of Breakfast!

Greg,

NYE probably would have translated into a free ride to CT for you because I was hoping to go.

All this complaining feels good!

there is some talk going around....nothing confirmed....but from what I\'ve heard, either way it will be a great NYE....
After speaking with you, I\'ve realized how much dumber I\'ve become.

I am driving to Porter\'s straight from work in Boston (hopefully an early release day) so I won\'t be able to give you a ride Greg.  That would suck if we both drive there considering that you only live a couple towns away from me.  Hitchhike and I\'ll drive you home.

I wouldn\'t be upset with an opener slot if it were a killer slot.  These Max Creek people have had more than enough exposure to PB.  They\'ve played Camp Creek twice and opened for Max Creek at least 5 other times.  Enough already.  To make things worse, about 80% of Creek fans are over 40 and set in what they like, and they don\'t go out to see crazy amounts of shows like the younger heads do.  Opening for Max Creek does not make you cool.  I\'m not a huge Bisco fan either, but I would be PSYCHED if they were opening for Bisco at Irving Plaza.  (And I would certainly stay for Bisco)  Like \'em or not, those are the heads we need getting into this band.

It could be worse though.  Addison Groove Project is playing in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Maybe they are opening for a subpar band and will be driving over 2000 miles to get there.  that\'s worse than opening for Creek in CT.

Ha

Hope they are the headliner in Wyoming.

Even though The Breakfast isn\'t ready to sell out Madison Square Garden just yet, why aren\'t the bigger bands lining up to add the Breakfast to the roster?

Maybe they are afraid that their fans will no longer follow them and flock to Breakfast shows?

Because the entire population of Wyoming is less than Toads\' capacity.

Oh well, it\'s one show.  If more good venues like The Call keep rolling in, then this won\'t matter.

I got myself fantasizing now though: Irving Plaza, 500 Bisco fans, smack \'em around with a little jam > WUIAC > Puppetry > Doughboy > Escher\'s Etchings > Echidna\'s Arf > Buquebus > Mooboo\'s > Taboo or Not Taboot and fuhgeddaboutit, good night, game over, 500 new fans.
