Gong reunite with Steve Hillage
« on: June 18, 2008, 04:49:52 pm »
Just thought I\'d bring to everyone\'s attention an event which happened in London last weekend. Everyone\'s favourite Pothead Pixies, Gong, played two shows with Steve Hillage, the first in the UK since the mid 70s, the only other time being 2006\'s UnCon in Amsterdam. Full line-up was Allen, Hillage, Mike Howlett, Gilli Smythe, Theo Travis, Chris Taylor and Hillage\'s wide Miquette Giraudy.

Needless to say I was there on Sunday for my favourite gig in several years, with the best light show I\'ve ever seen - even if the laptop needed a reboot half way through. Also needless to say Hillage was amazing, really lifting the band and the general consensus was they should definitely do this again.

No PHPs nor Eat That Phonebook Coda and no Bloomdido, but Theo Travis does a damn fine job. Even got to meet Mike Howlett before the gig when he sneaked outside for a ciggy! There\'s a rough aud recording on dime (http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=201303 - I have uploaded a few pics there too) and a few clips on youtube - you should be able to work out the two I uploaded!

Thanks.  Glad you had a chance to see the show.  I have a friend who went to UnCon last year and had a blast.  It\'s nice to see Steve playing his axe again.  He was always one of my favorites.
You Lucky Bastards!
