Doggie Question
« on: June 15, 2007, 06:28:19 pm »
So my family dog (not Sadie) has been really sick and we were pretty sure he wasn\'t going to make it through the week.

We discovered today, however, that he has congestive heart failure. He has all kinds of medications now but still won\'t eat, get up, etc. He\'s very listliss and is like a bag of bones.

I guess what I am asking is has anyone here had any experience with something like this? Any advice would be much appreciated. The vet hasn\'t been very helpful. I couldn\'t even get a real prognosis from him.

Oh yeah, and Yogi is an old man: he just turned 12.

sad to hear but I don\'t think that we ever had a dog with that serious of problem. I\'ll ask my mother because we a dog or two when I was really young and not sure what happened to them.

hope things become a little greener.

Thanks...

From the looks of it I imagine we\'ll put him down most likely. He\'s a good \'ol guy and I don\'t want him to suffer.

Jocelyn, sorry to hear about the family dog.  I know it sucks, but you never want them to suffer.  I put down several cats last year and my dog is getting up there in age.  I feel for you.

Having your pets get old is one of the most difficult things you can go through.  My Murph is 10 and is currently on five different medications.

Good luck.

I\'m so sorry to hear about your dog, having a sick pet is awful.  My chinchilla died last summer and I\'m still not really over it.  Maybe there is something that can be done so he can get better.  You never know. :)

My mom just called to tell me Yogi died. I was just about to drive over there to say bye to him since they were going to take him to the vet tomorrow. I didn\'t get to say goodbye.
