Sounds like a plan, Tuna.  Do we need to get the band to sign off on this?

I\'ll check with Matt and Chris to see if they can work with me on post-production.

Good question.. .. I\'m pretty sure the band knows about this but is leaving it up to us. At least none of the guys have said anything to me and I know they must have seen the thread. Maybe one of you going to The Saint or who will see the band around soon can ask? Or I\'ll give Adrian a call later.

Can\'t imagine why they wouldn\'t be all about this though

I agree.  Just making sure...

Gonna be tough to split this up on 2 CDs.  There was no setbreak.

I\'m thinking we could get creative and put the encore on disk 1.  Kinda like having dessert first.  :-)  I\'d rather not break up the continuity of tracks 7-12: the "ChrisPitch Birthday Seg-Wich"

The Breakfast
SUlly\'s pub - Hartford, CT
2009-11-25

Set I:

01. Intro >
02. Vermont Song
03. Escher\'s Etchings I >
04. Escher\'s Etchings II >
05. Existential Funk
06. Escher\'s Etchings IV
07. jam >
08. Tribal Funk Affliction >
09. Garcian Fishbowl >
10. Sundance >
11. Garcian Fishbowl >
12. Tribal Funk Affliction
13. Rush

Encore:
14. Peaches En Regalia >
15. Synergy

you know if the goal here is just to raise awareness, why burn a whole show?  I worked on a proj like this for RAQ a few years ago called live and alive.  We decided one cd was better than two.  Cheaper. more likely to be listened to. quicker. easier to distribute. think of it like this, if you have 100 cd\'s in your bag would you rather hit 100 people or 50?  instead of a full show (which always has a flaw or two that the fans can ignore but the newbs might pick up on) we did a \'best of\' made up of live tracks.  None to long either.  Newbie freindly.  Shorter concise SMOKING versions of our favorite songs.  Don\'t think of this as an album for yourself.  This is a marketing tool.  We are looking for conversion numbers here.

Take this with a grain of salt, who am I but another fan...  But that\'s the way I see it.

Is this going to be the same audio that\'s already up on archive.org?

Krispy, good points man.

My feeling however is, that this was really a perfect show. There\'s nothing I would leave out or want to miss. I also think that *either* CD 1 or CD 2 would be really compelling to anybody that listened to them.

Also, we\'re trying to do something really great here :)

As for expenses, I think we have that better covered than it may appear. I mean, if I can get about $500.00 in total donations, we can do this *really really* well and I\'ll cover the rest.

There\'s no reason to say this won\'t be the greatest album ever produced for the band. In fact, I\'m fairly certain it will be.

We are looking for conversion numbers, yes. But this is also a gift from the community back to the community, to the band, and to new listeners. If The Breakfast hadn\'t played an absolutely perfect show I might be more open to cutting some parts out. But in that case I probably wouldn\'t be coordinating this effort. See where I\'m coming from?

Gluft: I agree. Let\'s do it like this:

CD1:
01. Intro >  (probably leave this out to save space and get right to the music)
02. Vermont Song
03. Escher\'s Etchings I >
04. Escher\'s Etchings II >
05. Existential Funk
06. Escher\'s Etchings IV
14. Peaches En Regalia >
15. Synergy

CD2:
07. jam >
08. Tribal Funk Affliction >
09. Garcian Fishbowl >
10. Sundance >
11. Garcian Fishbowl >
12. Tribal Funk Affliction
13. Rush

Yes. But with post-production. So yes, people can hear it for free as well. But we will produce some really super quality hard copies, half of which to distribute freely (500 for now), and the other half (500 for now) we will give to the band to sell at the merch table. We will produce these so well that the hard copies will be a compelling item even with the free audio available.

I do.  I misunderstood your target audience.

from a business stand point is very hard to sell the same product that was once or is now free.  you could always remaster and sell a tits perfect sounding version, and then do a \'highlights reel\' of choice selections to give away.  That way your freebie does not discredit your sale-able goods.

Here\'s how I vision the marketing, and since we are pitching in to produce this at no expense to the band, we can really direct it any way we choose:

500 or 1000 >> to the merch table & online sales. The band can use these to raise funds and sell them on the road for probably $10 each.

500 or 1000 >> in the hands of Bfam to give away to people that will enjoy them and other people of possible influence.

And we can easily re-up production any time once the initial work is done :)

I work in an advertising company with my last name on it... not that it makes my ideas more valuable than anyone else\'s... but it does make me want to say "trust me on this" ;)

edit:: Krispy, looking at the Crash Mansion & FTC shows... maybe a Turkey Tour Sampler can be produced (perhaps with a coupon for $2.00 off the Thanksgiving album?) from all three Turkey Tour shows as well? Good idea, no? I\'ll leave you in charge of this if you\'re down, seems like a great idea for something more easy to hand out to people more instead of a handbill or something. What track list would you have in mind combined out of these three (keeping in mind the Sully\'s double live album is going to get put out at about the same time if you want to do this) .. ?

Wow, I hope you\'re being "cheeky" with this comment.  This kind of bravado could get Leith all kinds of fired up.

Track 01 fits just fine like this, so the choice would be an aesthetic one.

I think it would sound best with perhaps 5 seconds of cheers fading directly into Vermont Song. what do you think?

 I\'ve stayed out of this thread because I just think it\'s the cutest thread in a long time here.

I really don\'t see it being as good or better than Live As Is unless Jim is involved and the show is great but nowhere near a perfect show.

Oh and the free audio sounds great anyway
That\'s just my opinion man.

ahhh no need to get uppity.
I just don\'t get how you\'re going to give away 500 and try to sell 500?
But have at it. It\'s good to see someone has the initiative for whatever good it will do.

oh and isn\'t this what Live As Is is supposed to be for? A well produced new product showcasing the band?
