« on: March 02, 2005, 08:53:45 am »

1 - old school Garcian middle part played perfectly
2 - W/ Eat That Question and Hardcore Jollies teases
3 - "Tomatotron On The Run"
4 - Timmy eating chocolate cake off a paper plate
5 - For Josh Dobson Birthday

WOW.  Now I have always wanted to see Timmy, Adrian, and Ronnie play together as a power trio.  The closest I have gotten was the Good Time Boys shows.  But last night was something else, and that something was TOMATOTRON.  Other than at Breakfast shows, I have never seen Timmy so shiteating grinnin all night long.  He was like a master chef just workin the recepie.  Watching him communicate with Ron and Adrian with nary a nod, yet saying so much, gave me chills.  I sure hope it isn\'t too long before Tomatotron takes the stage again....

Thanks to Freddiewaht for keepin such a tight setlist.  And to Matt Vallo for taping this amazing adventure in sonic power, grace, funk, and balls to the walls rock and roll....

first off peck, how ya feelin?  I would say it was a bummer not to see you bouncin round the stage last night, but just read the setlist......

I too thought Tomatotron was a "wah/sleeper" name as well, but Timmy took it and ran with it last night.....

Quote of the night: Ron Spears to crowd while walking off the stage after the show - "you guys really know how to support the worst names going...psychedelic breakfast...tomatotron....the smokin boomers"....pretty funny considering Ronnie hates everything that has to do with music....

Yes Dave, we missed you last night, but the boys managed to pull something out of the hat ;)

Tomatotron rocks! :shock2:

The sound of the music was truly mouth-gaping sickness.

The JH Experience never played Fire as well as it was played last night....

and Trey would have been green with envy to hear Timmys Peaches....

It was supposed to be a Good Time Boys (RHCP tribute) w/ dave peck singing lead....good shit.  personally I dig tGTB more than tRHCP...

but since peck was under the weather it was the power trio Tomatotron making their debut as such....

I *feel* decent.. but my voice is shot from being sick - cracking like crazy, and I couldn\'t hit a note yesterday if I tried..

I was pretty upset to have to cancel last night.. I think I\'m usually the most psyched out of the 4 of us for these shows, but it was the last thing I wanted to do last night.. I didn\'t want anyone\'s ears to have to hear what I would have sounded like, and I\'d be in no shape to go to work this morning on 2 hours sleep, still sick..

but it looks like you guys had a nice little treat last night, so that\'s good. :) and it was recorded.. (if I was singing last night, I would have personally banned all recording of the show!)

Highlights for me included the ripping jam out of Sunshine, of course all the Zappa, and the overall variety of tunes, from Iggy Pop to Ooby-Scooby. Really a great show.

For the record, Tomatotron came about a little over a year ago when the  Breakfast name change was undergoing consideration. I was at Tim\'s and he was on the this website where you hit a button and a "band name" pops up. It was all stupid stuff like Mama\'s Mustache or Cow Taffy, but after about 500 names the site came up with Tomatotron. At first, it was just another bad name. But we kept saying it and after five minutes of going on about how terrible it was we broke down laughing incredibly. The name stuck. It was so bad, but sounded great. It was hilarious to think of a band actually playing with this name and screaming, "Good night, WE ARE TOMATOTRON!!!" I made it my point to get the name out and Fred helped promote the cause big-time. Now, a year later, Tomatotron is a global tour de force.

The best part for me is, I actually think it\'s a good name. I mean, Super Furry Animals, R.E.M., I dunno, PHISH, I mean, come on...it\'s not that bad.

Me too, with that setlist!! Hope dave is feeling better - would not be great to go to Toad\'s for the RR party feeling like crap.

So matt, will the show be on the LMA or etree? Or will it be one of those "archival recordings" leaked out to the lucky few?
