Has anyone tried to download anything recently?  I have tried to download a few shows lately (pb and other bands as well) and some of them are shown on the list of shows, but when you try to download the FLAC zip, it takes you to a "cannot find server" error page....

does downloading the songs individually work? have you tried to connect with an ftp program? have you tried a different web browser or a download manager.  i am guessing its some bad coding on the page that takes you to the zip file, but based on the vauge discription of the problem you are having it could be any number of things.

I too have had major problems with the flac zips of late - different problem though; the zip dls ok but will not extract properly (only 1 out of 16 tracks extracetd last time) . I have gone back to individual song downloads now.

use a download manager or an ftp program. its nearly impossible to download files 1+ gigs in size with the web browser without them becoming corrupted or cut off before they finish.

Have always used a download manager - the file does not appear corrupt when you click on it initially in Winzip, only when you then click Extract. Usually they are header/CRC errors.

marcial, andy, i can\'t stress it enough - use SmartFTP for your archive.org downloads.

it\'s free, and really simple to use. it\'s really as easy as drag and drop. just copy the ftp site name from the show page on archive.org, go to the show\'s folder, and drag and drop the files wherever you want on your computer. you can also queue up multiple shows, and they\'ll just download one right after the other.

if you happen to get disconnected, it will reconnect and pick up right where it left off.

marcial, this will definitely fix your problem, because you\'ll be accessing the server directly via FTP.

andy, can\'t guarantee it\'ll fix your problem with the large zip files, but i\'d also suggest going with individual files via FTP.

Thanks for the advice dave - have been using DAP and Getright for individual songs, but will try the ftp route to see if it\'s quicker.

Are you sure that will fix my problem?? I\'ve never had any trouble before & I can still download some of the shows the same way I always have....

For example... try to download the FLAC zip of this show & see what happens... is this a problem on my end or the website??

i just tried to download the zip in internet explorer and in firefox and it started up just fine with both.

maybe you need to reinstall your browser? or maybe there is some kind of security option set in your browser to block file formats like .ZIP, .DLL, .JAR etc.... I am not sure if that option even exists in internet explorer, i am just guessing that it might. I know you can disable file downloads all together in internet explorer if you want to. It could even be a because of  program like norton internet security running in the background having a security option set to ignore certain file formats that are sometimes used to spread viruses.

hold on. why are only 4 tracks showing up for this recording? The md5 file says it should have 13 tracks. I know some recordings from the tour had tracks missing due to matt\'s DAT deck having problems, but since all the tracks are included in the md5 file a complete recording must exist. Usually archive.org wont import a show unless all the tracks are uploaded completely and match the md5, so maybe archive.org is having some problems.

No matter what the issue is we still need to get this show fixed and check the others for similar problems.

marcial - gonna try a step by step...

let\'s use this show as an example. open up that page.

- on the left, click on FTP Information. you\'ll see the following:

Server: audio30.archive.org
Directory: /3/audio/pb1999-04-30.flac16
Username: anonymous
Password: you can leave this blank or use your email address

- open SmartFTP. you should see \'local browser\' (your machine).

- on the top, where it says address, enter audio30.archive.org

- enter anonymous for login, and leave password blank.

- click connect (first icon on the top). you will now connect to the ftp server, which has files and folders like your local browser.

- now, according to the FTP Information page, the show is in folder 3, audio, pb1999-04-30.flac16... so navigate there (double click 3, then audio, then pb1999-04-30.flac16).. you now see all the files in the show, and can drag and drop them to your machine to begin downloading..

as an alternative to dragging and dropping, i suggest using the \'global queue\' feature. first create the folder(s) for the show(s) on your machine. then, go to the 1st show you want on the ftp server. select the files you want, right click, and select download > global queue > local destination > select folder. pick the folder on your drive that you created for that show, and the files will be queued up to download there. you can then do this with as many shows as you want, and they\'ll download one after the other. to see the status of the queue, start it, stop it, etc, click on the big blue Q at the top of the screen, and you\'ll see it...

let me know how you make out. seems complicated, but it\'s really not..
