Im gonna go out on a limb here and declare myself the biggest Harry Potter fan that posts on this board.  Im not ashamed to admit it, and if anybody would like to argue that Harry Potter sucks, just take a look at this picture of Hermione from the newest movie(due out in theaters November 18th)

That\'s not what she looked like in the book!

Do you think that the movie ruins the book? or does it do justice? Many times movies become to Hollywood and they destroy the basic fabrics of the movie. I just wondered what you thought since you probably have read all the books and watched the movies?

Having read them all myself (and I dont really consider myself an avid reader) they are really good books. I found the writing to be very entertaining and was quite surprised by the adult themes that run through the story.

The 1st movie was very much like the first book pretty close and probably about as close as you could get with a 2hour movie etc. They left out a lot of stuff and sort pf trivialized Hermiones part in movie 1.

Since the 1st movie each subsequent movie IMHO has strayed further and further from the books. They do touch on a lot of the main themes but like most books, the books are always better than the movies.

I have heard from numerous people that have read the books said they are very entertaining and flow well. I just have never read one of those books, so when I watch one of the movies, I can not honestly tell what is being followed from the book. Thanks for the reply KindM\'s.

I left the theatre on opening night of the last two disappointed both times, but after watching them numerous times since I can definitely say that the Potter movies have done the books justice thus far. There are certain parts of the books that I felt were important that were left out, which led to my disappointments, but thats the case of any book turned movie. I thought Prisoner of Azkaban was the best movie to of the series to date and really captured the maturity of the characters very well. I am also very interested to see what they do with Goblet. Not sure how you can fit that book into a two and a half hour film, but I guess I\'ll find out in November.

What was the first Potter movie? Was it Prisoner of Azkaban?

I only read the the first one so far, loved it. Liked the book much better than the movie because it\'s your imagination creating the characters, not the hollywood geeks.
