i dunno, i just see a lot more of a what have you done for me lately kinda attitude from most the old regulars.  there was a time when we didn\'t give a fuck that the band didn\'t have the best business model off the stage.  now its just easy to use that as a copout excuse.  the band could easily be no more, half the time i think most people on here wouldn\'t care either way.

i could\'ve gone to toad\'s.  but its the fourth of july, and i\'m not about to drive to hours to a show after an afternoon of drinking.  plus there was absolutely 0 enthusiasm on this board for the show.  why the fuck am i gonna drive 2+ hours when everyone w/in 15 minutes doesn\'t give a shit.

its easy to talk shit on a message board, especially when you run that message board, but i doubt 99% of people on here would have the sack to try to hold onto their dream of being in a rock band after 10 tumultuous years of touring and general obscurity.

By the way, "Bfam" doesn\'t only apply to A) People from around New Haven, B) People like Yoda who still post here but never go to shows, and C) Breakfast.info regulars.

Maybe has more to do with rampant negativity / bitching / moaning / "I\'m too old for this" attitude of a good segment of O.G. Breakfast fam.

Make way for the young blood and keep ragin up here. That\'s all.

Personal attacks aside (I see the band when I can and that equates to when they play North Jersey)...

- The fans from around the New Haven area are mostly the people that grew up with the original line up and are in their late 20\'s/early 30\'s and other obligations are taking priority.
- In the beginning, the fanbase was primarily college students.  College students graduate and most of the time go back to where they came from.
- Fans have other tastes in music and sometime choose to see other bands.

I think that most of the O.G. as you call it, would love to see a resurgance of young blood, but that\'s not happening either.  I also think that you\'re misunderstanding what Dave is saying; the lazy description has nothing to do with what the band does on the stage, they work as hard as any live act.  I think the reference is to the lack of dedicated management and really good PR person.  You also have to realize that the band might be burned out a little; they\'ve been doing this constantly for 10+ years.  It will take it\'s toll on you.

These 4 guys are very very talented, but I personally don\'t know what the answer is....

its easy to talk shit on a message board, especially when you run that message board, but i doubt 99% of people on here would have the sack to try to hold onto their dream of being in a rock band after 10 tumultuous years of touring and general obscurity.

not talking shit at all, just speaking the truth, which most people here like to ignore and run away from.

you can use cute words like "dream" all you want. i prefer the word "career", which is much more applicable here. these guys chose to be musicians. it\'s their job. i know that in my career, i sure as hell wouldn\'t stay at a company 10 years if i hadn\'t moved up since i started. but would i switch careers? hell no. i\'d probably just go work at a place where the money was better, and i had more opportunity to advance my career.

they choose to be artists, not computer programmers.  clearly if they wanted more money/stability they\'d have given up on music(a la ron).  they could\'ve cut and run for a bigger payoff(a la matt oestericher), but they decided to remain true to their music and their fans.  there\'s a lot to be said for that.  do i think tim palmeiri could\'ve got paid off if he dumped the breakfast and freewheeled it to a band looking for a topnotch guitarist?  i\'m sure of it.  do i commend him for not doing it?  hell yeah.  there\'s having a job you hate, there\'s having a career you\'re trained for, and there\'s doing what you love.  i\'d take doing what i love if it kept me warm at night instead of keeping my pockets lined.

It sounds to me like people have given up on the bfam, and the music. Sad, really.

The way Matt went about making his decision may have been wrong, but he\'s part of a band that\'s opening up for actual legitimate band.  This idea that to make a change because it means more money makes you a sellout, well that\'s just plain horse shit.  All bands want to make music that makes them happy, but in the end, they have to do what they need to do to get paid...

All of the guys that have played in this band are super talented: Ron chose to become a teach (ultimately, there\'s nothing more noble to me than teaching today\'s youth).  Both Chris and Jordan would be great studio musicians.  I think that Adrian and Tim are equally talent (w/ a slight edge to Adj IMHO), but I personally feel that this type of music is Tim\'s vehicle.  Without Adrian playing equally crazy, I don\'t know if Tim\'s 1,000,000+ notes per show would go over as well as it does...

But what it all boils down to is that these guys are all "great" musicians, but there is a business aspect to what they are doing.  If you\'re out to have a good time, then you don\'t need the business side of it.  If this is your career and you and family depend on it to pay the bills, then you need to make sure that the business side of it is running as efficiently as the music side of it...

last time i received an email with side project dates: May 18th

that\'s effort?

i wouldn\'t call matt a sell out either.  thats such an overused term these days anyways.  he wasn\'t a perfect fit for the breakfast anyways, sure he filled the void, and did well in his time here, but it was never his bag.  he was a session musician who was here for a session and now he\'s gone.

i receive emails "regularly" from booking (highland media) and band members with dates to post here on .info and on facebook.

last time i received an email with breakfast dates: April 21st

last time i received an email with side project dates: May 18th

that\'s effort?

is that why the appleton date never got added here?  i mean, its not like the breakfast have many future shows scheduled anyways,  i don\'t know what percentage of what they have now have been out since 4/21.  but thats highland media\'s issue and the band should take note of that for future reference.  as far as side project dates, its nice to have you post them a month in advance, but i don\'t know how that whole area gets booked and when.  i did notice a lot of other posters and tim adding dates that have been missing, so at least its not a complete loss.  they really aren\'t the kinda shows you need to plan in advance for.  b ut i see your issue.

I\'m with Igzy on this one all the way. Much respect where it\'s due.

Music is a higher vibration than cash in hand. I\'ll be ragin\' front row in my wheelchair even if T Palms is playin guitar hooked up to an iron lung on a stretcher.

Watch me.
