anybody who thinks that it\'s funny to read about brothers and sisters getting arrested and perhaps having their very lives ruined for being non violent, recreational drug users on their way to a "party" is an ass. i found the whole thing to be disturbing, scary, enraging, sad.....anything BUT funny. laughing at someone elses misfortune, especially in a place where there are many like minded people who could have easily been involved, or might even know and care for someone involved, is the epitome of jackassedness in my humble opinion. big brother is getting closer and closer every day. anyone who finds that "funny" isn\'t someone i want to be associated with. you will the first person on any message board the will be on my ignore list. do us all a favor and disappear. i for one, wouldn\'t want someone like you spreading the word for a band that i love. leith, you know i\'m a vet and know the score, but if you walk around the corner and a drug dog alerts on your ass, your gonna be a vet of the system. i do believe that your point about the family feel being gone is valid. that was part of the magic of the dead. the older heads teaching the younger heads how to manage their buzz and how to care for the people that needed it. something this jackass apparently knows nothing about.

Just wanted to clarify my previous post in the light of other posters:

As freddie and duane have said, this is not funny at all - I just wanted to try to lighten things up a bit with my beer and Hits comment. I personally have never ingested or smoked any type of recreational chemistry, but have no beef at all with those who wish to - have even been known to help out a brother who couldn\'t roll any more. When it comes down to it, it\'s your head/lungs etc.

And in answer to Joe: "If I\'m going to pay 40 bucks to see a band I don\'t want some schizoid trying to convince me that JFK is growing out of my forehead..." , why  not just help the guy out? It\'ll only mean talking some shit to him for a few minutes, something some people are known to do quite regularly here. ;)

lol secrets r just that man. but ser I had 3 joints in my wallet, w/ a little sleight of hand they remained covered. oh i forgot to mention lighters were not allowed either thus I kept it w/ my pipe in my shoe. If you had big boots or were noticed to be walking/standing kinda funny w/ like a bulge in your shoe, they had you take them off but dirty hippies= smelly ass feet so most people did not have to take their shoes off. I had my party bag in a sweater i had wrapped around my waist and when they searched me I just held the sweater up by the bag and let them pat it down.

The only thing I find funny haha abt this is how many people are surprised that something like this happened. I mean does no one remember Summer 1991 GD tour when the DEA rumours (which proved to be true ) started? Does anyone remember that a little thing called The Patriot Act is in all actuality not that small ?
Come on Duane it sux for those people 4 sure but they had to know. The small amt of people busted shows me that most people gettin\' on this boat knew something may go down and either took precautions/got lucky/ or decided to see what appeared out @ sea( the tact i would probably take) and the ones that did not get rid of their stuff as it was going down were not paying attention.
From what i have read some of those people flew down to the Bahamas in an attempt to rejoin the cruise. Not knowing the local law where they were popped I would say min. jail time /max fine would most likely be the end result which sux yeah but it seems some of these people were not bothered enough by what happened to them to stop them from trying to rejoin the party. I have a feeling some may have their felonies reduced but the ones w/ heroin or coke bye bye.

i didn\'t realize that the patriot act was in place to find marijuana LEAVING the country on a party boat. in my mind, they have better things to do with their resources. another opinion is certainly to be expected, but to find it "funny"........well i\'ve given my opinion on that one.

My point abt the Patriot Act is that the government is alot more on notice abt the internet now and this Act allows them to investigate even personal e-mails and  probably one of the reasons they are now cruising websites associated w/ festivals as the Rave act was piggybacked on the Patriot Act . This act puts the producers of a festival at risk if anyone IN their festival is arrested w/ illicit drugs.

Sorry oldtimers, but I am one of those people... control your buzz, jackass!  I have never been out of control at a show or otherwise, and have no plans to let some idiot ruin a show for me because they don\'t know their limits.  I didn\'t pay for a ticket, take time off work, and in some cases fly across the country to be a babysitter!

I have no problems with people doing whatever they wish at a show, but don\'t expect me to go out of my way because you over did it.
