if the check engine light was on but you knew why and it was on for about a year, the speedometer broke, and the driver side window didn\'t work?
the speedometer is making me a little nervious for obvious reasons.
been there, done that.
I beat up my last car that the tow truck almost refused to take the car way, as I was trying to donate it.
i had to pay someone $50 to take my old car away...... that being said i try to fix anything i can. i was told by someone one time there is nothing you can screw p so bad a good mechanic can\'t fix
Most vehicles are worthless. They decrease in value the moment you drive off the lot.
a friend of mine bought a 2005 civic.... smashed it up while driving in the snow. they got such a good deal on it the insurance company gave them $3K more than what they paid for it....
because Honda/Toyota hold value longer.
The insurance company gives you what the actual cash value of the vehicle is minue depreciation at the time of the accident. The use a book that, comparable to the Kelly Blue Book that has the average amount of worth in the area.
Well Melanie... you say you know the reason the check engine light is on... but I don\'t think I can give my opinion as to whether or not yo should drive the car if I don\'t know what that reason is.
As far as the window and the speedometer go... meh, I\'d keep driving it.
don\'t worry about the speedometer until it starts messing with your transmission.
i could just be a loose wire.... it connect from the speedometer and screws into the transmission. sometimes they can get rusty or just break...... go to the library, into the automotive recourse section look up the book on your car and see if you that part is visually acessable. you might be able to fix it yourself with a pair of pliers
i could just be a loose wire....
candidate for typo of the year

um, it may just be me, but I wouldn\'t drive around with a check engine light on. You only have 1, but you can have multiple problems at the same time. So even though you know about a problem that caused the light to go on, something else may break and it can\'t warn you because it is already warning you about the first problem, so as a result you are driving around with something unchecked. scary.
It could also be nothing. My last car had a short and the light would keep coming on but there was no problem with the vehicle, drove 2 years with the light on. No worries.
You can tell when your car is in\'t driving right, you need to make the decision.
come on Zappa... where\'s your sense of adventure
 thanks guys ... the check engine, original problem is O2 sensor, the front one in front of the catalytic converter. basically engine running too rich and getting slightly worse gas mileage.
the speedometer ... well lets say i got mad at a snowbank and ran the engine so hot it flipped all the way around and its stuck UNDER the pin that\'s supposed to hold it up (now holds it down). the dude at the garage said it is a pretty major fix, cant just turn it back around

the window ... just a big pain in the ass at tolls.
my biggest concern is that at 3am when theres no other cars on the road, i will have NO idea how fast im going.
