Photos from South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and Technology show cats with a gene for producing red fluorescence protein. The cats appear normal in visible light, at left, but their skin glows red under ultraviolet light, at right.

they are real...we were discussing it in my nanobiology class. Basically they can do genetic work to the DNA of the cat before it is developed so it codes for GFP (green fluorescent protein), or RFP. Ive used GFP for experiments in the past, its pretty cool.

if i didn\'t despise cats (or if they could be kept kitten sized) i would want one, though waking up to one of those things glowing on my chest would probably freak me all the way out!
