this is a hard thread to post. just got this email, thought i\'d pass it along.

I am trying to notify all of Gia\'s friends to tell you about her passing.
Please excuse the informal message but there is not an easier way.
For the past 4 months Gia has been battling a rare and agressive cancer that
did not respond to any of the treatment options. She continued to live her
life as fully as possible til she could no longer fight. She enjoyed the
thoughts and comfort of all her friends these last weeks.
We will be having a big celebration of Gia\'s life in the spring and will try
to let everyone know. In the meantime there will be a small gathering to say
goodbye for those who wish. We will let you know.
Those of you who know our family well will understand that we don\'t do
anything the "ordinary" way so...
Gia will be sent off in a Viking Funeral "OB Style" Her ashes will be placed
in her guitar (Luigi) and set aflame at sea off Ocean Beach. Friends can add
a note to be placed in the guitar too. These can be sent to the house or
placed personally next week sometime. We will be taking some private time
away this week.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to
establish
the Giavanna Kersulis Scholarship in Voice at San Diego State University.
Checks are made payable to "The Campanile Foundation" and sent to Dr. Marian
Liebowitz, Chair, Scholarship Committee, School of Music and Dance, San
Diego State University, San Diego, CA 92182-7902.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Best regards,
Dr. Marian Liebowitz

Gia was a beautiful girl with an enormous amount of talent, and I\'m happy to be able to have known her, even though it was only for a short time.
Rest in peace, Gia.
this is so sad, she was a bright soul, and a beautiful person. She will be sorely missed.
jesuschrist....
i pray for her family and friends.
"why do bad things happen...to good people?? seems that life is just a constant battle between good and evil..."
wow. this is horrible news.
i didn\'t know giavanna that well other than the few times we hung out at shows. it was always fun running into her spontaneously at venues up and down the east coast. i am so sad to see that she wasn\'t able to win this battle. this is such a shame. my heart goes out to her family and friends.
this is heartbreaking. I remember her at the LeBar Bat show (her first show) and her asking me \'who these rockstars were playing?\' and then again hanging with her at Baja Bash howling at the full moon during the late night set... I know the guys had such a geat time at her place out in SD and Tim specifically telling me how beautiful and talented of a person she was..he was right. im gonna miss seeing her very much when she would unexpectedly or expectedly show up at an east coast gig. man, life shouldnt have this kinda stuff happen...gona take a while to sink in, and she will be really showing the angels how to sing...
This is gut wrenching news. Such a beautiful person.
God this is so sad... such a kind, smart, talented soul who seemed to make brighter the lives of the people arund her... she will be missed.
Peace & Love to Gia\'s Friends and Family...
wow. I only got to meet her once in new york, but I feel like I\'ve know her all this time. wow. This is horrible. Rest in peace Gia.
this is tragic news,
Gia was a very talented young artist who\'s love for music and life was unparalleled.
thank you for sharing your home and charm with us when we were out west.
R.I.P.:pout:
awful news, my heart goes out to friends and family
not sure what to say. i didn\'t really know her all that well but from what i have read/heard she was a good-hearted person and she will be missed. i wish i could have met her.
I never met her, but each and every member of .info I ever talked to about her had nothing but amazing things to say about her. I hope I make half the musical accomplishments that she did in her short but fulfilling life.
