my god.... i never actualy met her, but one of my best friends was in an opera with her, here in virginia. in an odd twist of fate, the one time i would have met her (after one of their performances), i ended up going to ct for a breakfast show instead...
i\'ll let scott know, too...

she will be greatly missed around here
my condolences to her family
wow. I never had the chance to meet her and always thought how cool it would have been to catch her sitting in with the band. Had no idea she was sick.
I only wish her family the best in this trying time.
so sorry to hear this. The angels couldn\'t wait to have her back by their side..
"Sunrise doesnt last all morning
A cloudburst doesnt last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
Its not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
Sunset doesnt last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
Its not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of lifes strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day
Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
Its not always going to be this grey
All things must pass
All things must pass away"
This is a tough one................
Giavanna was one of the most amazing human beings to walk this planet.
We are all better for having even just a shimmer of her existance in our lives and her being will always be with us......
I have no idea how to deal with this. I found out last weekend a friend committed suicide and now another close friend is gone this weekend!
I had never really been a fan of Opera but Gia showed me Opera could be fun.
Her voice was spectacular and her Beauty was only outshined by her Kindness.
I met Gia through this board and in person @ Baja Bash \'04. We went from Breakfast pals to really good friends as we both live here in S.D.
She would always try and drag me out to karaoke on Sundays and the fun we had will always be cherished by me. She was never down, Never! She may have gotten a bit perturbed here and there but I really have never met someone as joyful for life as Gia.
This past Mar. on Bfast tour tooling around w/ her was truly some of the most fun I have ever had on tour.
Her singing on White Rabbit @ Winston\'s was spot on! I will miss her silly drink in one hand-twist of the hips-dipping of the head dance she did@ Bfast shows.
Gia was always one to tackle any challenge presented to her head on and damn if something got in the way. When she first told me of the Cancer, my first response was "Well if anyone is going to beat this it\'s you!" That\'s just how she was ya know?
Wow, this world just got a heck of alot less bright.
I could go on for days how much that wonderful woman meant to me but I am sure you all feel the same way.
Rest in Peace Giavanna, We all loved you more than we knew.
last night there were some incredibly sad moments.
the middle part of mooboos, instrumentally was a tearjerker.
across the universe was another one.i had to take a walk.
her spirit was alive and well in no.branford last night.
she will be greatly missed.

the period of silence>Good Things was unforgettable, as was she
So sad to hear this news. I was very fortunate to have joined Gia on 9 days of Breakfast tour last spring.
Beautiful voice and a great sense of humor!!
the period of silence>Good Things was unforgettable, as was she
All I could do is sit down and look back at all the fun I was able to have with such an amazing person. I feel lucky to have been touched by her friendship.
I\'m glad Tim decided to still play last night. It was hard for many of us at times, but especially for Tim. Gia was and always will be in our hearts.
Late And The Great was the best version I have ever heard hands down. So emotionally driven.
Rest In Peace Giavanna and tear up the great big gig in the sky.....until we meet again...
Always a positive and uplifting influence to anyone she met......
So sad, Rest in Peace, I feel lucky to have met her

Favorite Breakfast Song: Hmmmm... I\'d have to say Question Mark is the one that I push repeat on the most. But I love Rufus off the Bona Fide album.
First Show: 11/14/03 Le Bar Bat in NYC. I ended up there by accident. We were a little put off at first because the band playing after The Breakfast had a weird crowd. But we stayed and really got caught up in the musicianship of The Breakfast.
Favorite Show: Bill?s Bar in Boston in 2004. It was the first time I saw them live since Le Bar Bat. I had ordered Deuce and Bonafide and had been listening to them a lot so I was ready to really appreciate the band. It was the night before some major auditions at school and I couldn\'t get anyone else to go with me so I went by myself, even though I knew I shouldn\'t go out. It was just so incredible to watch the crowd revel in the music. And then I bought the instant live recording of the show and it never came out of my car stereo (till someone stole my car stereo). Luckily I had made a copy.
What is your favorite musical note? Ha! B-flat below middle C.
Favorite dynamic? Sfz p.
Favorite accent? Marcato.
Marcato, what?s that? It\'s when there\'s a horizontal line over the pitch. You stretch out the note a little more and emphasize the attack...like marching.
the hairs on my neck just stood up.
jesus.
such a beautiful girl.
such a sad story.
I am very sad to hear about this... it seems like she was just on-stage with the band. Just goes to show how short and precious life can be... never take it for granted!
