ok....thanks for the feedback on this. Also, another question, but is there any place to get microsoft office without paying full price for it? If i remember correctly, isn\'t it a couple hundred bucks by itself
i saw a commerical on tv for hp laptops as low as $499. whatever they offer probably has everything you need included. i would get a 3 year warranty or something like that too.

Since your in school you should only be purchasing "educational" versions of any software you need. Photoshop, Office whatever. It is much much cheaper than buying it retail.
many retailers will have the educational versions. It is the same as the retail stuff but cheaper and technically it is only supposed to be sold to students, teachers, Profs etc.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=office+%2B+student&x=0&y=0You\'ll notice right away that the price is only like $120ish compared to $349.00 etc
Or if you don\'t really need microsoft you could use open office. It has everything you could possibly want and it is free.

it\'s a stretch, but if you happen to know anyone in the military, you (they) could get Office 2007 for $19.95... details:
All military service members with access to the AKO website: To purchase for individual home use any of the below programs, you just need to go to the Deals in Technology page inside AKO and click on the Microsoft Home Program link. Save the military program use code that is depicted on the next AKO webpage. It should direct you to https://ascp.monmouth.army.mil/scp/software/hup.jsp. You have to submit your ako address, army program code, and your information after which Microsoft sends you the approved link to the portal to buy the programs. For only 19.95 plus tax each (no combining shipping) you can buy Office 2007 and other program suites. Cheaper than even buying the programs at the AAFES stores.
Program Information and Available Items:
The Microsoft (MS) Home Use Program (HUP) was approved for all Army
personnel. This includes, Active Duty, Reserve, Guard and Civilians
currently employed by the Army. Detailed information as to the Home Use
Rights End User License Agreement (EULA) will be available on the ASCP
Web site this week with the memorandum signed by LTG Steven Boutelle.
Visit the Deals in Technology page for the location.

 I just bought a cool laptop on Ebay for $250... you should check and see if you can find what you want for much cheaper on that site
i\'m pretty sketched out about ebay with all the scams and stuff that happen on there
the 2 processers are AMD Turion 64x2 TL-56 and Intel Core Duo T2450
Everything that I\'ve read (which isn\'t a ton - but a handful of reviews) puts the AMD processor behind the Intel in performance.

The "student" version of Office runs about $100 and includes Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Full Office includes those plus it includes Outlook, Publisher, and Access and runs a lot more, 300 range I think.
love all the new replies to the 9-month old questions!
