I\'m not sure what 9/11 means to everybody seven years later, but it\'s still worth noting.

It\'s one of those things that we\'ll take with us for the rest of our lives. All of us are going to have a brief moment of recognition (be it a moment of sadness, anger, or whatever) whenever somebody says "September 11", in any context.

no "reenactment" (thank god) just the reading of the names and moments of silence at the times of impact and collapse.

In Virginia, a memorial to the 184 people who died at the Pentagon and American Flight 77 is being dedicated this morning.

President George Bush will preside over the opening of the memorial in Arlington. It features 184 benches, each bearing the name of one of the victims.

it would be funny having Bush reenact his reading a storybook to a bunch of kids at Ground Zero. the families would probably lynch him

It\'s weird, but Mr. Kinsely is right; anytime (not just today) i hear the date sept 11th (in any context), I pause a moment. Not to "reflect" or anything, but a thought "heh, I remember that day."

It\'s weird that I still have that reaction 7 years later.

I wonder if people paused on November 22nd, 1970, or December 7th, 1948.

excuse my ignorance but what exactly is the significance of Nov. 22nd, 1970 ?

The only thing I can associate with Nov. 22 is Kennedy\'s assassination, but that was in 1963

I\'d be interested to know what happened in 1970 too.

November 22, 1970 is seven years after the Kennedy assassination. December 7, 1948 is seven years after Pearl Harbor.

November 22 also happens to be my birthday.

ah. I didn\'t notice that you had adjusted both dates by 7 years.

Ah, yes. I see what you\'ve done now. I think maybe it\'s possible that people took a step back 7 years after Kennedy was shot. Even today, around Nov. 22nd, the history channel shows every documentary ever done about the event.
