well i\'m looking to be pretty fuct on my c drive.. here\'s what i\'ve been through...
i unplugged cables from everything, except my C drive. same error.
i tried using BOOTCFG, even though the ATTRIB command wouldn\'t work on the boot.ini file.
---
first i tried BOOTCFG /list:
There are currently no boot entries available to display. is this bad news?
---
i then tried BOOTCFG /rebuild:
Scanning all disks for Windows installations.
Error: Failed to successfully scan disks for Windows installations. This error may be causef by a corrupt file system, which would prevent Bootcfg from successfully scanning. Use chkdsk to detect any disk errors.
Note: This operation must complete successfully in order for the /add or /rebuild commands to be utilized.
---
ran chkdsk:
The volume appears to be in good condition and was not checked. Use /p if you want to check the volume anyeay.
---
ran chkdsk /p
got up to 50% (took a long time), then returned the following:
The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems.
