Mt parents and brother and extended family and boyfriend all pooled together and got me...
A Nikon D 70!   Holy moly!
It is unbefuckinglievable! sick sick sick.... Can\'t wait to try it out at the next Breakfast show I go to!
What\'s really great is that the 2 lenses I have from my old Nikon are compatible with it...
Very nice!!! Congradulations!! Enjoy!
Thanks Todd... I figured you might be the one person on here who would appreciate it.
Ya know, I have never really liked digital cameras... must be that I just never used a nice enough one. Can do everything manually with this one, which is great. Also, there isn\'t that delay that I have experienced with other digital cameras. It\'s wicked fast actually. Lots of stuff to play with that I\'ve never had before also. Last night I acidentally pressed the wrong thing and next thing I knew I had taken about 25 shots in like a second and a half. lol... Gonna take some getting used to.
I had the same feelings about digital. Put it off for WAY too long. Just the clarity I can get in low light amazes me. Not to mention I will take 100 times more photos of everything and nothing now, because it costs zippo.
Funnily enough, I too got a digi camera for Xmas. Not as grand as jocelyn\'s Nikon, I got an Olympus C60Zoom. Seems pretty good from playing with it over the last couple of days, but I have two queries directed at Todd and others familiar with such pieces of technology.
1. Which resolution is best for general use?
I know generally the higher the res, the clearer the piccies, but in terms of getting the best use of the card - it came with a 32MB card and the olds also bought me a 128MB card - how low can you go and still get decent pics? Available res are:
SHQ 2816X2112
HQ 2816X2112
SQ1 1600X1200
SQ2 640X480
Have tried HQ and SQ1 and there seems little difference on a 6x4 print, but I haven\'t tried printing anything larger.
2. What about show photography? (Now you understand the reason for a small, compact, but not riproaringly expensive camera - one of my wife\'s main criteria on choosing the camera was size - ie so it could be easily concealed and taken into shows.)
Should I use the Sports photography mode without flash or can someone suggests some generic settings to try to start with?
TIA
Congratulations. Digital just keeps getting better and better. Shoot all you want it doesn\'t cost a thing! Your darkroom is your laptop (if you are lucky) and you can take it anywhere and set aside a project even if you are in the middle of it.
