As far as I know Fuji makes the only compact digital cameras where the "video" mode is only limited by how big your memory card is.
the Casio I own does not limit your movie length
yeah, my Canon Powershot S2 IS has a 60-minute/1GB limit on video \'clips\', and records in .avi format.
I just bought a Nikon S-10 and love it. 6.1 Mega-Pix and more features than you will probably ever need. It has all of the adjustments (shutter speed, aperture, etc) that you have with an SLR camera. I think I paid around $400.

i had an S4, which i believe is the previous model (looks exactly the same) for a few months, but dumped it for the canon. i previously had a nikon coolpix 995 which was fantastic, and had TONS of manual settings. that died on me, and i went with the S4 because i *love* the swivel feature (the 995 had it as well).. but it seems to me that nikon really dumbed down the features of their coolpix line, as the S4 had like ZERO manual settings.. all pre-set bullshit that was pretty much worthless to me.
it sounds like they added back the manual flexibility. that\'s great. but now i\'m in love with my canon and don\'t need a new camera anymore.. :shrug:
Okay so I have narrowed in down to about three cameras, two are at ritz camera and another one is at walmart. Just wondering which one you guys would suggest. I am either going to get the FujiFilm FinePix S5200 Digital for $269.99, which they say is the best for your money. Casio EX-P5050 Pro Exilm for 249.99. And the one I found in Walmart is a Canon Digital rebel or something I can\'t remember nor could I find a link to it on their webpage, but it was about $198.99.

It needs to be a manually operable digital camera (minimum 3.2 megapixal) or 35 mm film cameras. (cameras that allows shutter speed and f:stop/aperature to be set manually, no point and shoot cameras) In addition, students using digital cameras must provide their own card readers.

if you did see that price for a rebel then it was probably only for the body (no lens). still that is really cheap for a rebel body. maybe it is a floor model or something
It turns out the casio is actually $299 whereas the fujifilm is only $269. Despite this, I think I am leaning more toward the casio, mainly due to size as well as its manual controls. You have had one what do you think? I went to the store to check out both cameras and both are really nice so I am a little torn between the two. I have read numerous online reviews for both cameras and it seems the casio may be a better camera buy. Just need to decide by next monday, so I will probably pick it up sometime this weekend.
honestly, if you\'re trying to decide between casio and fuji, i\'d go with fuji based on the name alone. i don\'t exactly think of cameras when i hear \'casio\'.

I dont know about the Fuji Finepix. Thats the one in the above comment somewhere i said that died in the fall. I had it for two glorious years(two vacations.....three friends\' weddings) However, get a long warranty. Something happened to it and the flash wouldn\'t pop out anymore (
?..i mean unless i dropped it drunk, but idk), and my warranty was over, so rather than getting it fixed, i just bought a new camera.
I mean, do what you want. Just get a long extended warranty..ive learned a lesson in there somewhere...
Dave, I also had a 995 that I loved but recently died. I killed it actually, by knocking over the tripod it was on... so far as I can tell, the S10 has all the exact same features as the 995, but more megapix and about 1/3 the size... which can be good or bad... it is easier to slip in your pocket & carry around, but if you are in one of the manual modes and trying to push tiny buttons with big clumsy fingers like mine, it\'s kinda of a pain.
