I think you should buy a boat.

:finger:

Thank you for all your advice. I have decided to put all 100% of the funds into the Newt Gingrich exploratory committee fund for the 2008 election.

Dave you are kind of the 4th or 5th member depending on the year IMHO.

I think i\'ll start referring to you as Clarence.

Probably. But they have been busted more than once for using child labor in sweat shops. Porbably so have other brands I wear, but I try to stay somewhat aware...

On a serious note, another good charity I\'ve donated to in the past is the Oak Hill Center for the Blind... they\'re located in Hartford, and have done a lot of great community-based support for people with disabilities.  Before my dad passed away, he went completely blind - this charity funded his business & he was able to work as a coffee-shop owner at a courthouse in New Britain.  Oak Hill gave him a bill reader, talking cash register, and many other items that helped him have a successful business.

Our friggin country was built on child labor.

No our country was built on Slave labor sprikled with child labor.

The problem with companies with Nike is they outsource to save money although they receive tax breaks. I haven\'t worn Nike for many years for a few reasons. Nike was asked if they had a plant built in the US that they did not have to pay for but had to supply labor would they open it and use it. Nike\'s response was No because they didn\'t want to pay minimum wage.
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

our country was harvested by slave labor and manufactured by child labor. The textile mills in the north especially used teenage and younger girls quite a bit. And then there was that horrible fire in new york city. :sigh:

My mother works for the United Way out of Hartford.  I mentioned this discussion to her so she would think that I talk about than beer and boobies.  Here is what she said.

- First and most obviously, figure out a cause/service that appeals to you.
- Are you looking for direct service (i.e. food pantry), advocacy (lobbying Congress) or research (cure cancer)
- In Connecticut, call 211, who will then give you a list of agencies to check
out that meet your needs.

Make sure the charity is legitimate: http://www.charitynavigator.com

Also check out the charity\'s 990 Form at http://www.guidestar.org which will tell you if they are financial viable.  This will tell you (among other things) what percentage of your money will go to the program and not administration/advertising/fund raising expenses.  75% is considered a good percentage.

Mom\'s got a full 20-minute presentation if you care that much.
Go see your Breakfast, there are starving Leiths in California

Paul don\'t donate to a local charity, or any charity for that matter. Make our dreams come true, buy The Breakfast and force them to play Inca Roads every show for the rest of their career.
