No, not me, unfortunately, but one of my best mates. He\'s jacked in his job to travel for a year or so and is currently in NY, moaning about "what a miserable race New Yorkers are"!
So, see if you can put him right and suggest some ideas where he should go - decent rock venues, eateries, bars etc. He\'s seen posters advertising the Rocks Off show, but I can\'t see him going - serious metalhead/goth who I\'ve tried to convert in the past. Good to see I\'ve got him thinking about TB though as at least he mentioned it.
All suggestions gratefully received.
Damn boom, you got me all excited you were coming over to party! As for your friend, is cbgb\'s still open? that was the punk mecha since the early 70\'s.
Candiria is a really great (imo) metal band that is out of new york. Sadly they are not touring. The best explination I can give is this:
The Grateful dead - mix jazz with rock and roll/bluegrass, shake well.
Candiria - Do the same thing but instead of basing yourself in rock and bluegrass, use
**** metal. Still mix with jazz, throw in rap for seasoning and frape\', then thow blender against wall and watch it explode. Lick mixture off wall, cutting your tounge on the glass in the process.
If you grew up on metal but like what jam bands do, check them out. That\'s all I have. I don\'t go down to the city that often.
Damn I thought the same thing.
Well lets see what we can do. CBGB is good for hard/fast music and some music history. What part of town is he staying in? Is he working during the day? Any interest in sports The Mets (baseball) are in town starting Friday, the Yankees are out of town until late next week. The Red Bulls (soccer/football) have a game this Saturday. There are a plethora of museums and galleries to check out (even a museum devoted to sex if you don\'t want something too high-brow).

http://nypress.com/The Onion - I could not find show listings on their website but the paper has a good listings section that highlights the stuff worth seeing
Ask the hotel concierge what they recommend in the neighborhood or in general.
I will keep looking around but that should get you started.
There\'s a few great places I know of to hit up, but they\'re mostly filled with "trendy gucci" chicks - Par-A-Dice just opened in Manhattan, as well as "Branch" -- if he mentions the GirlsPR promo, he\'ll get in with VIP status!!!
what about Le Bar Bat? That place seemed kinda "metal" ok not really but they wanted to be ......
Thanks for the suggestions, folks. Will email him this lot as a starting point.

Press Release July 2006
In Vegas 6\'s and 8\'s refer to a bet on a dice table. In New York City where gambling is frowned upon 6\'s and 8\'s will mean the time you will probably be getting home! Saturday July 15th 2006 at exactly 10pm a new game comes to Manhattan and it looks to be an exciting ride. Paradice Saturday\'s at 6\'s and 8\'s located at 205 Christie Street (midway between Delancy and Houston) is the 6 hour roll you have been waiting for! The two floor venue is large for a lounge and one of the few lounges in NYC with a cabaret license so they encourage you to shake what your mama gave ya. I stepped in and was very surprised by the space...chandeliers adorn the ceiling, cozy leather booths...kind of reminded me a little of the old Nells back in the day...even more surprised to find the downstairs very intimate and appealing with a retro funky rock twist.
The grand opening this Saturday of the new party promises a lil something more with DJ Pete Suzuki on the main floor spinning a sexy mix of everything NYC is famous for. On the outside chance you don\'t like any particular song head downstairs to hear celeb DJ Kenny Summit spin, big fan of him and I have a funny feeling this will be one of those nights you will be looking at your watch wishing there was more time.
I will be there this Saturday and from what we are told there will be a bevy of hostesses handing out chocolate dipped strawberries, marshmallows and pretzels like in old Vegas. Make sure you arrive early for the open bar reception from 10-11pm (hey drinks are free in the casino why not 6\'s and 8\'s too, for a little while at least). Hope I see you there and for more info log onto
