thinking of making the trip out for this one but ive never been to the field. whats it like?
don\'t bother it\'s in the slums of bridgeport.
seriously, though, it\'s a decent venue. it\'s free. definitely a step above college bar and a step below trendy bar. with a pinch of sports bar. since there\'s no cover, there will be many 22-30 year olds there on a friday night. it\'s pretty close to the highway. plenty of other bars in the area to pregame if you wanted. a bunch of eateries in the area too (including the field), if you get to fairfield early enough.

Can we get some statistics to back that up?

my tinted nissan xterra was broken into there and backpack & gymbag were stolen from it -- not in the lot but around a corner in the neighborhood.
slimpickens already gave all the stats....we have all had this discussion before....
lol sorry i brought it up....guess ill be there
wow....ignorance at its best. i hope somebody says something at the field about that area of bridgeport. which is actually referred to as blackrock btw. its so hilarious to read this crap....the field is a great venue...and continues to grow on a musical level. they are known for treating bands extremely well as far as fair treatment is concerned, and it just happens to be located in one of the most tightly knitted music communities in the state. i believe the motto is "check your negativity at the border" oh, and it is by no means a college bar when bands like the breakfast are in town. rant over.....

Pretty common knowledge to never leave a bag in an unattended car in pretty much any city. Many breakins involve sweaty gym clothes but the robbers always assume there is value in the bag and take the shot.

Not that I really care if The Field is a cool venue or not. However, the fact that all the shows there seem to be free is pretty damn nice. I paid $15 to see a Willie Waldman Project last month (albeit with a sick lineup that was indeed worth every penny:
http://www.archive.org/details/wwp2009-05-13.flac) Free Breakfast, Waldman, TP etc.....is a treat. Most bars with free music generally book hit-or-miss talent with plenty of misses.
