There\'s no place closer to all the colleges than Providence, damn there are 4-5 colleges just in Prov. not to mention the 30 in Boston only being 45 minutes away. Do these right before a winter/ fall  break and I can guarantee a bunch of heads

Well seeing as how there is some really good brainstorming happening in this thread.

Lets talk about how we / they can grow the fanbase. What can we do that will help get some more people at breakfast shows.

I think walsh hit the nail on the head about taking chances. I think that was what I was trying to say earlier in this thread but it didn\'t translate well. I know none of us want to see them loose money but we all want to see them do some crazy **** and at some crazy venues.

I know I\'m going to get flamed for this but I personally think we fans do plenty to get this band noticed. From concerted voting efforts on jambands, making samplers for people, pimping on other band message boards. Hell this site is owned and maintained by a fan.The only thing I can think of left to do on a consistent basis is making as many shows as possible and bringing people each time. I think the only way for this band to grow it\'s fanbase @ this time is to freakin\' get the hell out of NE and tour!!!

Oh and Walsh is right they need to do a NYE Run. Not only for the locals but it would be better for those away from the east coast that are planning on NYE w/ The Breakfast anyway to get a few more shows to make the flight worth it even more.

That is what I am talkin\' about...New Years runs of more than 1 or 2 shows will bring more people that aren\'t from CT, bc there will be a reason to fly in...esp with gas the way it is now, christ it is prob cheaper to fly places...I know it is like 29 or 39 bucks round trip to Philly and definately would cost 60+ to drive.

So TLG has announced a 2 night New Years Run @ The Independent. The 30th is $15 and NYE is $75! but includes an open bar. The Independent is a nice 500 person club in S.F. TLG plays there alot through the year and will probably sell out the run.

Why don\'t the Breakfast do the same? If Toad\'s is the largest type place like this locally why do they not play there more often? I am just wondering because I think if they had a place they could play often (8-10 times a year) it would help their visibility. Paper write ups, fresh word of mouth every other month....

Is there just nowhere for them to play?

Oh I thought Toad\'s was like 6-700. Not much larger depending on the layout. As for TLG they have sold the place out before 2 nights in a row add NYE into the equation. No problem.

Throblem..which most non CTers don\'t realize...is that New Haven is really a very small towm in comparison to Boston or Frisco.  New Haven is like 125k folks....tiny by comparison.

When the band plays Toads more than two...maybe three times a year the draw falls because folks have seen it.....and there aren\'t that many other muso\'s that want to.

Yeah I can see that. So basically location is killing this band as far as being able to play in fair sized local venues regularly because there are none. They suffer from being the small fish in NYC and Boston... Man they do have it tough.
