Ever since the first time I have heard this song, I have always felt that there should be at least one more "pause", "stop/start", or whatever the technical name for it is (Paul Ryan or Wolfie are usually good for technical info like this).
I dont think that the additional "pause" should be guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination, but I know that if they ever threw in even just one extra "pause" anywhere in the song, whether it is in the verses or in a jam, I would completely lose my
**** and go bezerk....
I know how some of you feel about this already, but I wanted to put it out there to see what everyone thought/felt.....
i thought it sounds like another pause would natrually go there too..and actually asked about it and the response was...\'cuz thats not how i wrote it\'. so im gonna vote no to the second \'rest\'.
i say let it ride how it is..something almost to look forward too..

Theres no technical name, it would just be a rest on the music staff for all insturments for an undetermined length. (probably 1 bar just to keep the time signatures even).
so wouldn\'t that make "rest" the technical term
Ah, the old pregnant pause!! Damn good way of building tension with the audience.
Previous great pauses:
#1: Rocky Horror (Got to be the all-time best ever) - "I see you shiver in antici....
(Spot the newbies at the movie/show who call out too early!!)
....pation!!!"
#2: Jane by Jefferson Starship, when Craig pauses, before ripping into the solo. (Saw this live once at Reading Festival and he milked that pause for all it was worth)
Anyone think of any others?? (no gestation jokes, please

)
there is that undetermined silence in Divided Sky which builds pretty nice tension...would be much cooler if the entire crowd went mute as well

holy
****. freddie\'s making sense.. i must
really be tired.
but yeah, i look forward to the one. and it seems like mike and i always have some kind of way to animate it out.. usually by punching each other..
maybe you and mike are spending a little bit too much time together...i may be wrong..

Tough comment to make while you\'re attached to Steve\'s hip.
On topic, I think Doughboy is fine how it is. I would like to see a pause for an entire set though. That would be interesting.
Ya know now that I think abt it. I nvr really heard this as a special moment or anything in the song. I mean my body gets it as a break in rhythm but that\'s abt it. Now the 2 songs Andy referred to Jane by Jefferson Starship and what song from Rocky Horror? Sweet Transvestite. Now those pauses are more noticable to me. Esp. ST as he\'s right all the virgins
**** that part up lol ! I guess for me the Silent Note in Divided is alltime actually no the pause right after the beats and before the lyrics in BIODTL.
