it became clear long ago, when charlie was playing wonderwall, that desmond-centric episodes were the greatest. last night was certainly no different.
tears, goosebumps, and shakes throughout this entire episode. really started to love the daniel character in this ep, and honestly, i cried like a baby when des got a hold of penny.
need to watch again immediately, if not sooner. A++++
agreed.....last season i started getting into the show alot, and last nights episode was the best yet. I like the whole constant thing you need to have
wow. That was a good one. I\'m still emotional from watching it. I was very close to crying until bennyboomers walked in the room and i regained my composure. The people on the boat are so weird. I can\'t read them. Its like they are good people but they are not at the same time. I\'m really happy daniel and sayid were able to help desmond. Right now he is my favorite character. Im really starting to hate john locke though. maybe the coffin opens next week.
ok. in 3 weeks and 2 days, i\'ve watched 77 episodes of lost. (yea, that\'s approx. 3.35 episodes per day.) i am now all caught up. holy ****, what a **** journey i\'ve been on the past three weeks. my life is changed... and what a GREAT desmond episode! "i luv ya, pennay." holy ****.... davepeck, i cried like a baby as well.
anyways, now that i\'m caught up, i can engage in discussion with you all. i\'ve avoided this thread like the plague because i didnt want to spoil anything. so who thinks penny\'s dad is majorly more influential than they\'re letting on. i wouldn\'t be surprised if he was behind the whole dharma thing. and what the **** is with sayid working for ben in the flash forward? too many questions... not enough answers...
I was thinking that penny\'s father had to be more involved. Thats why he was so interested in getting that journal by the 1st mate on the black rock. Penny\'s father probably gave that picture of desmond and penny to naomi.
wow what a **** episode. i\'m not going to say i "cried like a baby," but things definitely got a little dusty towards the end. definitely a "slaughterhouse 5" feel to the episode...des\'s buddy in the army was "billy" right? the producers keep saying that they\'ve created this entire time-travel scenario without any paradoxes...which i love. but how does daniel not remember talking to desmond in 1996? does he experience memory loss on his way to the island as well (desmond is his constant)? he did experience a lot of radiation in his lab ("what about your head?"). and does his card memory exercise with charlotte have anything to do with it? and what\' s the deal with the log from the black rock being sold at the auction (by a member of the hanso family) to widmore? there\'s some sort of weird mojo goin on there.
interesting to note that it\'s xmas eve on the boat but it\'s a full two days later on the island...more than a 2% difference...that\'s 90 million years over the course of 4.5 billion
this show is sucha mindfuck...i can\'t wait to see how they write themselves out of this. i mean how much longer can they keep complicating things? they have to reach the apex soon right?

i must have missed something. how do you know this?
ok so let\'s say that my "2% - 90 million year" theory is right (which it most certainly is not). that would put the island 90 million years in the future, for all intents and purposes. original inhabitants of the island (whatever that means) could have experienced evolution more quickly than the "real world"...possibly evolving past the need for a fifth toe. not to mention probably several other weird possibilities...
just throwing it out there

I don\'t really understand the 2% difference... I didn\'t see any evidence of that in the last episode. We know there is some sort of time delay between the island and the freighter because of the rocket, but it was only a couple hours, right? And I take it as the delay is constant, like its only a couple hours off, not that time is moving faster on the island.
On another note, pennys dad is gonna be a huge deal to this whole thing. The fact that he bought that journal from the black rock in 96 shows that he has learned about the island and knows a lotta ****.

i\'m with you. i don\'t get that blurb on lostpedia at all. seems like pure speculation (as they even use the word, "seems"). it appears to me that things are only lost in time when they enter this "thing" (whatever it is) off a certain course between the island and the freighter.
if there is truly a time difference, how are people on the island communicating with people on the freighter in real time?
yeah if there\'s no time difference it\'s all moot. lostpedia does mention in the eggtown page that the enhanced version of the episode places it at day 93...or day 95. i suppose i\'d have to trust the producers on that one. what i meant by the 2% difference is that (if it were 12/26/04 on the island and 12/24/04 everywhere else) about 2 days were gained over the course of about 100. a) it doesn\'t seem like the two-day difference is acurate and b) i doubt the relationship is as linear as that and c)who even know what the **** is going on
but there clearly is some sort of time delay going on..31 minutes for the rocket, hours (?) for the helicopter. seems like the slower something travels the greater the time delay. radio waves (traveling at the speed of light) would tend to experience a very slight delay

if tomorrow is really a juliet episode none of this will be answered
