i saw him many years ago at Toads and it was awesome...his books are also super....i read them all when i was 12 and would steal them out of my brothers room when he wasnt home...hahaha....
I saw him at Toad\'s also... it was probably the same show. My brother and I used to wear out his spoken word albums. Rollins is equal parts stand-up comedian, raving mad man and intellectual, which is a compliment in my book.
Ya know I thought that Mike "helluvahat" was living down south working for some kind of scientific company or something. But after watching the Australian comedy The Rage in Placid Lake (2003), I realized that he is apparently living in Australia, going by the name Ben Lee, acting and fronting several semi-successful indie bands.
If you have Netflix, you can watch The Rage in Placid Lake for free online. It was a pretty funny movie. Well worth the FREE price tag... plus you\'ll get to see Mikey act like an australian teenager, which is pretty funny too.
Summary:
Placid Lake (Ben Lee) has always been different. His crayon eating scientific genius of a best friend, Gemma (Rose Byrne), also has a few issues with \'blending in\'. As an odd fish in a sea of mediocrity, his brilliant ideas are bound to get him into more trouble than success. So when he finds himself flying off the school roof and breaking every bone in his body on graduation night, Placid decides to make a bid for the elusive normal life. To his parents\' horror, he gets a normal job. Soon he\'s embracing conformity on the fast track to corporate success. But can Placid finally retire his rage in the pursuit of normalcy? Or will his plan backfire?
This movie also had the strangest cameo I\'ve ever seen. Claire Danes shows up in the movie for literally 10 seconds. It seemed odd because it was an all Australian cast, shot in Australia and she just pops into a scene, says about 4 words and never appears again. Very strange.
So....
CITY OF GODUn-
****-believable. Best movie I\'ve watched possibly ever. Wellll, it\'s a MUST see for everyone on this board. I was blown away.

Oh hell yeah. Went to look this up, and realized I already saw it back when I had the Independent Film channel w/ DirecTv. I miss the satellite.

Just watched the trailer and added the movie to my queue (unfortunately you can\'t watch movies on Netflix if you have a mac.) Boy is that an eerie resemblance. Movie looks ok too.
Gordo, if you liked City of God, watch the tv series City of Men. It is also wonderful.

No
****.. I know they made a movie sequel City of Men, but didn\'t realize there was a series too. Awesome, I\'ll surely watch soon. Man, soooo good. Did you guys know that Carrot was the only trained actor in the movie? Everyone else was hand picked from the streets for genuinity. I guess they put the kid\'s through acting classes for a few months before shooting and come film time they used a ton of improv to keep it as realistic as possible. Lil\' Ze was supposedly a very intraverted person before being chosen as the drug lord killing machine. That\'s wild. I loved the Tender Trio too. And Knockout Ned, it took me awhile to realize he was in Life Aquatic (Seu Jorge pumpin\' out the Portuguese acoustic Bowie).
just thought i\'d drop in and say that Quarantine was the biggest steaming pile of
**** i\'ve seen in a while. that\'s all.

Are you surprised by this, or just venting because you wasted your time watching
Quarantine?
I know that Beuwolf was released over a year ago, but i finally got around to watching it over the weekend.
firstly, it\'s a great movie.
secondly, when the dragon flies out of the cave, is it just me or does Beuwolf\'s right hand man yell "GOLDEN SILENT BALLS!"
...i was in a highly altered state...
Rachel Getting Married was very good...but heavy....next up The Boy in the Striped Pajamas....

Sounds like a (mental) Freudian slip. You must be silent in your persistent quest for golden balls.
Yeah, I made it through the entire list. Over a year of movie suggestions. Nice. Def added some to my list.
A couple I thoroughly enjoy that I didn\'t see listed are below:
The JacketThe Rundown -- Although I had never been a fan of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, we happened to watch this movie and it was actually really good. Major ass kicking going on. Also Chris Walken tied to almost any movie adds bonus points.
Run Ronnie Run -- You mentioned at the first post not "dumb funny" movies, but David Cross drops this one in under the mainstream radar and it\'ll make you double guess your Joe Dirt "Mullet Allegiance".
Where the Buffalo Roam
Those are mine for now... thanks all for the suggestions!
I finally had a chance to see "Burn After Reading", I had to go to a cheap little community theater, crammed into my seat the whole time, elbows tucked in, knees together, ugh. But, only $4 for a ticket and $4 for snacks. Well worth it, this movie was highly entertaining. I especially love the last 10min or so.

yes, i obviously went into Quarantine expecting to see several oscar-worthy performances and was flat out shocked when it didn\'t deliver.
actually, i was hoping for a halfway decent scary zombie-esque type of movie, and was disappointed that it wasn\'t even that.
not to mention that
the final scene of the movie is in the **** trailer. seriously, WHO DOES THAT??
