The New Mastersounds Posted byleithon 12 Mar, 2009 18:34
Saw these guys a couple nights ago and was simply blown away. 4 Brits throwing down. Guitar, Bass, Drums and Keys no lyrics. A little banter but pretty much one song ends and bam next one starts up. Rock and Roll with some funk thrown in. Every song was danceable. I didn\'t stop once yeah yeah I know but really they were tight as could be and had Winstons rocking.
I would see these guys again in a second. The guitarist totally looks like Jimmy Fallon which had me in stitches also.

I\'ve been listening to these guys for a number of years now. Really tight compositions though some of the material sounds a lot like classic Meters recordings.
Leith, they tour the US a lot and visit CA every few months. I\'m sure they\'ll be back by summer.

Ya know, if you\'re gonna reference a band that impressed you, would it kill ya to post a video example? Wouldn\'t that be the ser thing to do Leith? Lazy ass west coast ****!! ;-)
gotta a lil Jimmy Smith/ Lou Donaldson thing going on. Ser biz indeed.
If you like the deep funk sound of The New Mastersounds, The Bamboos is another band you\'ll probably dig (Bamboos have horns, flute and vocals; Mastersounds are pretty much pure instrumentalists). New Mastersounds are more accessible because they actually tour in the U.S. all the time. The Bamboos are based in Australia and I\'m not sure if they ever play here. I\'ve had their albums \'Step it Up\' and \'Rawville\' in my collection since they were released a few years back.
