Raq - "Ton These"
« on: »
I just received this album [via Amazon (via .info)] last week and really can\'t get into to it.  I\'ve listened to it 5 times at work, and did so again yesterday on the ride home from Huntington Beach.  It just cannot sustain my interest and I easily get distracted with each listen.  Aside from a few moments, the music seems lacking in personality and the vocals are boring (they sound a lot like too many other artists).

I\'m going to give it 1 more listen before I finalize my decision.

Are there any fans of Raq (Radicalrich?) that can explain to me why this disk is worthy of the kind of play Moxie Epoxy has been getting from me?

Also, if anyone wants a brand new copy, I\'ll send it to you in the mail tomorrow.  Actually, Todd Anderson gets first dibs on it, as he recently sent me some cds.  Otherwise, it\'s up for grabs.  I\'m not even sure if I\'m going to burn myself a copy for the music library.

Thoughts?

ive had the cd for a while, don\'t love it, i think raq is cornier than most jam bands and their music is fun but never that interesting.  that being said i think all four of them are great musicians and know what their doing.  at the same time, this cd was ok i thought, nothing great

i dont think that ton these is as good as their last album carbohydrates, but i have seen raq more than the breakfast, mostly due to the fact that i lived in burlington vt when they were finally getting recognized; however the power of their music cannot be captured in the studio much like b\'fast.  if you want to check out a damn good raq show (my favorite) then archive 5-25-2006 from summercamp (listen for the mike\'s song jam, sick!!)
it\'s critter christmas dude, it sucks ass

i\'m waiting for the day that the breakfast play at the paradise, which is not one of my favorite venues but i pass by it everyday to/from school.  just seeing the name on the marquee would be spectacular

yes i love raq, saw them in Brooklyn this weekend and man was it a **** **** show!  had the same kind of vibe UAC I did, but in brooklyn and at a club, it was a super time raq came on at 10:10 and rocked out till about 3:30 they also had some hot female backup slingers and DJ logic!

also i love the new CD, i can understand how some people, dont, but i think they are very good song writiers and while the cd isn\'t as complex musically as Carbs, the songs are great and preformed live are amazing, i would suggest as a RAQ show though the paradise show from last year, it\'s SBD

Neither do I, though I\'m really trying with this cd (If I have to try, it\'s not a good sign).

Yeah well when you actually have good management **** gets done. Hell TLG just played the Paradise in Oct. and they are from the West Coast.
