just got around to listening to this for the first time this morning. not impressed. sad to say, but Grind is one of my favorite songs on the album. A Song I Heard In The Ocean is pretty good, as is Army Of One (mellow, but Page baby!)... nothing else really does it for me though.. The Connection is possibly one of the poppiest songs phish has ever put out (though i do like some of the lyrics)..
in all fairness, i hated Round Room the first time i heard it, but i grew to love it.. but after one listen, i give Undermind a 4/10.
thoughts?

They never sound good after the first listen to me either.
I think Round Room is their strongest studio release since Billy Breathes.

i just picked it up earlier today. It comes out officlaly on tuesday you\'re right about that Dave.
I think all in all its farmhouse part 2. poppy and at sometimes stale. altough there are some key songs that i DO like including grind and tomoorws song and a great version of two versions...oh yeah and cwowd control as well.
the best part of the package IMO is the DVD bonus disc the footage is awesome.
uhhh you know what i mean....uhh you know what i mean

Seems like the most homogenous Phish album. I really don\'t expect a Junta or Rift to start coming out, believe me, but couldn\'t we get a few songs that are really distinct? Like, how about an instrumental tune and then a tune that\'s not entirely in 4/4? It doesn\'t have to be YEM-worthy or anything, just something with some composition.
ASIHTOS is very good. SASS is nice too, I like it live. It really sounds like a Phish song.
3/10 first time through.

2nd time: Undermind is a decent tune, with excellent lyrics. Makisupa/Boogie on Reggae Woman style jam potentials. Interesting solo from Page on an overdrive organ.

This album is a complete joke. Almost as bad as Round Room (almost...)

I have only listened to this album once, and I don\'t won it, so this may not be a fair criticism... it usually takes a few listens...
Anyhow, I think this album sucks. SO boring. And it seems to me that most of the songs are lacking that distinctive sharpness, or maybe clarity is a better word, between the instruments. It all kind of blends together. Am I making any sense? And there were a few songs on there that if it weren\'t for the VOCALS, I really wouldn\'t have even known it was Phish. Not a particularly creative album either. yuck.

there are things that may suck on Undermind but they havent been playing any of them really this tour, and A song I heard the Ocean Sing, Undermind, Army of One, and Crowd control are good tunes.
