I\'m trying bro.

I really hate to judge anyone\'s "fan worthiness" because that\'s a very slippery slope.  However, if I\'m being completely honest...I can\'t help feeling this kid should not have 4 tickets when I know he can\'t name 10 Phish songs.  He\'s a totally nice guy.  He wasn\'t trying to be a dick or anything by getting them.  I\'m sure he\'s genuinely curious to see a Phish show, and I doubt he\'d ever EBay any of the tickets.  The rational side of me knows that it\'s not fair for me to feel that he doesn\'t "deserve" the tickets, and that he\'s as entitled to the tickets as anyone else.  But the emotional side of me can\'t help it, I want to take all his extras and give them to everyone here who it means so much to.

i know this is going to be a controversial post but i gotta say it:

to think that any human being can be more entitled to concert tickets than another is just clown shoes.

and if one were to subscribe to this ridiculous notion, i\'d have to think the dude who\'s only heard a few tunes and never been to a show would be more "entitled" or "deserving" than the dude who\'s been to 200+ shows since 1989.

but even that is ridiculous!  i\'m sincerely appalled when i hear that kind of talk.  it doesn\'t matter where we\'ve been, it just matters where we\'re going....

I agree 100% Jim.  Completely rational argument.  My rational side is with totally with you, as stated in my post.

I also cannot make any apologies for my emotional reactions, which are, by definition, completely irrational.

I think a lot of Phish fans are probably having thoughts along these lines lately, but it\'s kind of an ugly topic and I don\'t blame people for not talking about it.

This is strange for me because I\'ve always been so excited for my friends and people on .info when they get tickets.  This is the first time where I wasn\'t psyched that someone I know got Phish tickets.  I wouldn\'t say I\'m upset about it or anything but I\'m notably less psyched for this person to have tickets than I have been for everyone else.  I\'m trying to figure out why I feel that way.

Well, I hope for his sake he can find 3 people who want to go with him.  One of his friends (who I don\'t know) just commented on his status with "you\'re a weirdo".  This kid really might not be able to find 3 people to go with him!

wolf, im so sorry man, but i know more about phish than most of the people on this board, maybe more than you...

i can play EVERY phish song without missing one note on the drums, including, the wedge, limb by limb, fluffhead (all 14 minutes, give or take), reba, YEM, stash, David Bowie, Brother, 2001, Mikes Groove, Foam, The mango Song, Fee, DAAM, SOAM, , anything, just name the tune and i can play it...i have devoted 6 years of my life for ~3hours a day listening to live phish and ask anyone i know know how much I knwo about that band its sickening

PS, were you talking about me or the kid who got the tickets?; if its the latter, i apoligize for the rant i just did

ds, that\'s awesome! good for you.

but that doesn\'t entitle you to tickets to a concert. maybe say if john was going to do a drum clinic with only 20 people allowed in, with their kits and some random fan got tickets and you didn\'t, in that case I\'d say you have an argument... and even that is streatching it. but not to just some random show.

i know, wolfy, your post just reminded me of lots of people i know who think this way.  i know your heart\'s in the right place and you are FAR from the problem when it comes to this topic.

and don\'t beat yourself up over feeling these feelings.  we\'re not responsible for the first thought, but we are responsible for the actions that follow it.  and talking about it with the people you\'re close to is absolutely the right thing to do, so sorry for seeming like i was jumping down your throat.  NOT my intent.

ds, i can play YEM, Reba, Stash, Squirming Coil, Run Like an Antelope, Rift, Slave to the Traffic Light, SOAM, and probably a bunch more, but I\'ve never seen Phish live, i HAVEN\'T really devoted all that much time to learning those tunes, and there are a BOATLOAD of other tunes of theirs (and an entire album or two) I just don\'t like because I find them to be cheesy and contrived, and i think they show and utter lack of effort on the band\'s part.  Where does that land me on your worthiness meter?  Do I make the cut?  Can I keep the tickets I have?
